McCain: I saw the future when I picked her for VP spot. Snooky is bright, thoughtful and intelligent (for a republican). She has been excellent mother to Bristol and Track, both are future Republican leaders(if they survive teenage years).

McCain really has a great opportunity to save his legacy and go a long way toward righting his wrong if he would retire, admit his massive mistake in selecting Palin, and becomes a vocal opponent against the far right.
Sure, it’ll earn him no favor among the base, but it wouldn’t matter. He could easily get a permanent gig on MTP (what he really wants in life anyway) or a show on CNN or MSNBC. Refusing to admit he massively screwed up just looks sad and desperate. Palin dropped trou and took a big dookie all over his legacy and he still insists on defending her. The appearance of steadfast loyalty left the station a long time ago. Now he just like like a obstinate old crank who is too full of himself to admit he was shamefully wrong to choose her.

That’s the gist of it. If there was ever an uglier sight than Palin and Trump together, it was that time that McCain revealed to a stunned world that he had chosen that redneck grifter to be VP of the USA. He has no choice but to stand by her. Any other course is to admit what a horrible thing he did. This is the John McCain legacy – Sarah Palin. She will be forever fused to his rotting corpse.

Sort of the McNamara gambit. I sure wouldn’t stand in his way, but everything I’ve ever seen tells me he’ll die before admitting this one. Consider how the Presidency is wrapped in his psyche, and he blew the one Presidential level decision he had. He has to know this. Personally, I hate screwing up, and really try to avoid it. I can’t imaging screwing up on this level.

McCain is trapped here. To admit he does not “respect her view” is to admit HE WAS WRONG to pick her for his V.P. and that is Heresy to a Conservative. They NEVER admit errors.
Show ANY kind of “weakness” like that and you will get “primaried” by a Tea-Bagger so fast your head will spin.
