“Ooops!”

I apologize to everyone who was offended. Must be something wrong with my internet filter. It was only supposed to go to people who would think it was funny.

“Well, ah didn’t know anybody outside Roanoke would pay attention. I figured it would jes stay here with my fellow crackers.”

Yes, there is another reality outside the bubble, aka Reality.

What part of “suggesting we use internment camps is inherently offensive” doesn’t he understand?

“I didn’t expect my bigotry to go viral. I thought it would just be kept among us good ol’ boys here in the Commonwealth.”

David, your IQ test results are back and, well, it doesn’t look good.

It most assuredly IS in his heart or he wouldn’t have said it. And the faux apology to those “who were offended” has become a cliche. He needs to make an actual apology saying that his words and the feelings behind them were wrong. And he will work at becoming less of a bigot.

Why is it so hard for them to just say, “I’m sorry, it was a ill conceived statement, and I apologize to everyone.” No qualifications, just I apologize to everyone. What about that is so damn hard to say? And for fucks sake, don’t say “it is not in (my) heart to be racist or bigoted.” That statement has become a clear admission to being racist and bigoted! It’s only a whisker better than “I have lots of Japanese American friends!”

Or, on second thought, keep doing what your doing. It’s easier spot the bigots among us.

But, yar Blanche. Yar racist and bigoted.

In other words: I am sorry I got caught.

Saying you’re sorry your bigotry offended someone is no apology.

Yeah, crowd-sourcing a cracker just isn’t as fun as the intimate smoked-filled rooms of yore.

I’m just waiting for the cries that he was unfairly ‘outed’ and comparisons to the suffering gays and lesbians have/had to go through.

Grotesque and bigoted initial remarks + illogical and insincere apology = idiocy!

accepting refugees would be a start. he could personally vet them.

The damned thing is, this guy must have believed he was writing a strong, beautiful, forceful “leadership” letter when he was writing it. Looks like he didn’t expect the reactions at all and is truly taken by surprise. Pretty lame. And sad.

I am so tired of politicians hiding behind “I apologize to everyone I offended.” Mayor Bowers, you screwed up, big time, and your apology should be to everyone! Everyone, period!
