Very good, very readable book on the geological evidence that there never was a global inundation. Author bends over backwards to give credit to mythology and oral traditions describing great floods that probably did happen in local areas, and notes that geology as a field of study was founded in good part by religious men who saw it as part of their devotion to study what they saw as the work of god, but it craps all over the Noah story.
The Giants were definitely there.
Genesis 6: 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown. 5And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually. 6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart…
“We believe that what we’re doing here in this particular life-size reconstruction will be the most authentic and realistic reconstruction of Noah’s Ark in the world,” Ham said during a media gathering on the ship’s deck Thursday.
Is the boat made of wood? Will there be beavers?
.
I can only imagine how freaking much BS they will have to dump on visitors to keep them from thinking about what they see. Then again, good true believers are trained to never question.
Thanks for the link. It was excellent and very well researched. I especially liked the conclusion of the author. Last paragraph:
As a Humanist, I’m greatly concerned the residents will be left to flounder in the flood of debt. As a secularist, I’m pissed off that the public’s money is being spent on an unabashed religious ministry. As a skeptic, I’m suspicious of why the TIF wasn’t common knowledge. And as a science enthusiast, I’m aghast that this is a conversation we’re having in the 21st century.
The issue that broke the deal was specifically a limitation they had on hiring only a specific type of xtian. You had to sign an young earth creationism agreement to get employed.
Since this thing is “life-size”, I presume they will demonstrate just how Noah managed to stow breeding pairs of the roughly 5500 species of mammal, together with the food to keep them alive for 40 days (and nights!). And the 10,000 reptile species, in addition to the many bird and insect species that are not aquatic.
That would, ideally, be followed by some materials explaining how Noah managed to re-distribute all these survivors to their various habitats. Just re-supplying the Galapagos Islands must have been a real headache!

I had not realized that Noah had access to steal i-beams.
