Discussion: Martin Luther King III Criticizes Trump On Race

I am waiting for the good doctor to stand in front of the cameras or the press and deliver his final statement on the matter. Then we will know what sort of person he is.

Indeed.

Yes, that should be very interesting, particularly if the doc will answer questions about details of findings.

As I recall, other Pres’s disclosed findings. Will trump?

Hit him where it hurts. Get him to divulge his Golf Scores. I mean the real ones.

Wishful thinking! He’ll disclose his golf scores right after his tax returns and Melania’s immigration records.

He doesn’t have real ones.

Everyone acknowledges that trump cheats at golf.
A lot.

That tells us a great deal more than Trump would be comfortable with.

From Digby:

This is from King’s famous ā€œLetter from Birmingham Jailā€

ā€œInjustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial ā€œoutside agitatorā€ idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.ā€

President Trump does not agree. And he and the white nationalists who follow him now dominate one of America’s two major political parties.

Does trump know how to do anything except golf?!

I’m waiting for the firestorm that will erupt when 45 ultimately tweets or states that he doesn’t like MLK because he doesn’t like people that get assassinated (much like the idiot comment made during the campaign about McCain and his being a captive).

That’ll blow the s-hole nation comment right off the front page.

The assassination attempt by a white fellow seemed to turn his cold, cold heart.

Dr. Ronny (Ronnie) was evaluating DT on a binary scale where the other option is dead.

ā€œWe got to find a way to work on this man’s heart.ā€

You can’t work on what he doesn’t have.

How long before tRump fires back with something intensely stupid. Here’s a man that doesn’t believe he’s a racist, because he believes the things he thinks about non-Whites are true. He doesn’t seem to have the ability to be introspective or empathetic, but he IS pathetic.

Like many (most?) other Republicans, he ignored it when possible and when not, pontificated about MLK bring ā€œone of the good onesā€.

Are you assuming that he knows golf? People tell me he’s a lousy golfer, and he cheats. I don’t know. But that’s what people tell me.

Or more visits to KFC. Speaking of which. Colonel Sanders was supportive of the civil rights movement. When he started opening and expanding his chain he unlike Trump did not discriminate.

The man who is redeemed by one good act can undo it all with one more bad one. That’s why the vast majority of the ā€˜redemption’ stories in folklore… end in self-sacrifice. The redeeming act is the individual’s final one, and it’s that finality that gives it the redemptive power.

I don’t see Hair Furor making that selfless choice for anyone. Not even Ivanka.

  1. I am going to muddle over that all day now

  2. Cannot think of something more void than the relationship Trump has with his children. I have not seen a moment when promotion of his children was not ultimately promotion of himself. Set pieces to be used, abused and cast off if needed.

Bee and show also point out the irony of Republicans praising MLK, jr.

And hfs Monday was also REL day in MS and AL! And according to Colbert, Donald called folks bragging about saying SH before he started saying he didn’t say it!
