Fairly sure it’s a prop hand from a studio model. Not at all uncommon in mid-century studio portraiture.

I wonder whose hand is on his left shoulder. It almost looks like a mannequin. But live or fake it’s definitely a dark-skinned hand. He was on the right side of history regarding slavery and what became known as ‘civil rights’ but I still think it was unusual for pictures of the day to be integrated.
