I don’t understand why anyone (reporter, weather person) would want to deliberately go outside in 175 mph wind. I know they want to “show” us the effect of the hurricane and its damage but you could do that with a remote camera and do the voice over from inside a shelter. Better to risk the camera than a life.
U.S. President Donald Trump offered his support via Twitter: “Puerto Rico being hit hard by new monster Hurricane. Be careful, our hearts are with you- will be there to help!”
“Oh, and don’t forget: Have a good time!”
We’ve got to make Puerto Rico a state. They need aid, and there’s no way they are going to get the amount of federal aid states routinely get, and that Puerto Rico routinely needs, until it changes from territory status to statehood.
“Not with money or aid of course, but, you know … you’lll be in our prayers.”
Did anyone actually go out in 175 mph wind? That would be insane, but reporters usually know to get out of the wind before it hits sustained winds of 50 mph, give or take. The wind would pick up reporters and toss them in the air long before it hits 175 mph. Here’s video to illustrate I mean:
Yes. I am also fearful of the kind of aid for Puerto Rico that will be requested by a Trump administration.
“Puerto Rico being hit hard by new monster Hurricane. Be careful, our hearts are with you- will be there to help!”
means “Don’t worry - I’ll help you like I helped Coco Beach Golf Course!” https://www.forbes.com/sites/chloesorvino/2017/03/20/puerto-rico-trump-bankruptcy-golf-course/#483821c84bfe
Here’s a reporter who tried:
Why any sane individual would do this is beyond my thinking. They say in the various reports “DON"T DO THIS” and they go do it. Then "We do this to show you what it’s like outside. As I said…why not put a camera out there and do the voice over from a safe place. If I was a reporter and was asked to do this I’'d say “no, you go and I’ll notify your next of kin.”
Trump’s version of “helping out” was…during the campaign he went to a place where a storm happened and did a photo op. What did he do you ask? He kindly passed out Play Doh:
As if that would help in recovery somehow.
The above happened in 2016 during a flood in Louisiana
He also donated toy cars, socks, cleaning supplies and other important stuff.
