This is why pretending that the teabaggers matter or wondering what to do about their latest rant is meaningless. Recognizing them as what they are and dealing with them as nothing more than noisemakers will let us proceed with our agenda and the nation’s business, which, besides deflecting for the 1% and the GOP, is their mission to block.
How does one hover over an East Coast county if the results chart is blocking one from doing that?
If anyone else can, I live in Bergen County, New Jersey, God help us all.
Aha. I was surprised that Virginia was so much different from its neighboring states, and even more surprised when it appeared to be more averse to the Tea Party than any other state in the country outside of Hawaii and New England.
We tend to be slow to adopt new trends in the Old Dominion, and the Tea Party would still be considered something new-fangled around here, but I would have expected somewhat stronger support than it’s showing. Color me skeptical of the accuracy of the findings.
It’s like Google maps, you can drag it to reposition it if you want.
Bergen County, NJ, reports 36.2% Tea Party favorability.
well my county in CA is way up there. 52.9%. Frankly I’m not surprised. It’s a real challenge sometimes. Being in the middle of all of that can be really demoralizing.
This is fascinating. One surprise was the low degree of support in Virginia, and the high degree of support in eastern CA. By and large the support tends to follow the red vs blue maps at the county and precinct levels. One thing I observed about the red and blue maps at the precinct levels, the blue precincts pretty much followed the major transportation shipping routes, seaports, rivers, and railroads. The further the location from ports of call or railroads, the redder. These are the routes, which like the ancient Silk Road, have always seen the greatest diversity among the flux of the peripatetic. Their communities are, and have always been more open to progressive ideas, less entrenched and committed to the status quo.
Uh, no, they don’t. I live in Virginia and unfortunately there are lots of tea party types here, and they live and breathe right wing talk radio so they know what they’re talking bout.
Much appreciated. And now I learned something.
I live in crazyland where the Tea Party is really big. The funny thing is that the GOP here is broken into about three different factions and they are fighting each other. The Party is coming apart at the seams. And, for a very red state we now have about 55% registered either Dem or Independent because of this. Most of the GOP are FOX viewers and are hyped on misinformation. There is a redneck saying that you can fix stupid and that may be true, but the GOP is loosing folks to Independent status. There is reason to hope.
