Discussion: Manchin Breaks With Dems, Says He'll Vote For Pompeo As Secretary Of State

You can make book on how this dick will vote on any issue…he always disappoints but if your a betting person…never disappoints.

I didn’t mind Machin’s or Heitkamp’s vote on the bank bill. There was a logical argument based on local needs. However, I don’t get this one. No one in ND or WV wakes up thinking about Mike Pompeo. They don’t hit their favorite conservative blog crapping all over Dems b/c of Mike Pompeo.

Why no stories about the efforts of moderate Dems and Republicans to further deregulate the banking industry?

Every crime the GOP has committed against this country was abetted by moderate Democrats like Manchin.

Maybe no one, but at least we quit wasting resources on a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Love for this country is exactly what causes tens of millions of us to hate what this President says and does, when we would prefer not to hate anyone.

No, not at all. The party that controls the Senate elects a Majority Leader who then decides what even makes it to the floor. That party then has the power to slow walk federal judge nominations or grind them to a screeching halt. But most of all the lives of millions hang in the balance and rest on the strength of a couple of 80/90 some odd year old heartbeats. If any liberal on the court should pass away, a Democratically controlled Senate could pull a McConnell and keep PP from seating a new justice. The rights of far too many people could be snatched away if Kennedy merely decided to retire.

There’s several million people who still have healthcare because of folks like Manchin and Heitkamp. That may be nothing to you, but it’s literally life and death for many more.

In an @MSNBC interview with me yesterday, @SenatorMenendez told me that, in a private meeting he had with Mike Pompeo, the CIA Director was unable to answer basic questions about the administration's foreign policy strategy.

Is this supposed to be a surprise?

Do you really think that Donnie Two-scoops himself could say what his malmisadministration’s foreign policy strategy is? Note that sloganeering (e.g., “My strategy is MAGA!”, or “We are going to make Mexico pay for a border wall!”) does not qualify as a strategy.

Don’t misunderstand me, I hold no brief for Mike Pompeo in any capacity, but being unable to articulate a foreign policy strategy or even a coherent foreign policy position for this malmisadministration is not his fault.

As the saying goes, fish rot from the head.

Not so much of a surprise as more of the same and more people that either don’t mind taking a job they don’t mind knowing nothing about or think some how they can fix.

OK, OK, OK, you sold me on it. I appreciate Manchin because he only votes with the GOP 61% of the time (which is over fcking half, but I still fcking appreciate the fcker. I fcking really do.)

Perhaps you should campaign for Ralph Nader.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders…Democrats will have to “decide whether they love this country more than ______.”

Be prepared. After we change the equation from GOP to Democrat majority in November, this will be the standard remark for everything GOP. From treason and corruption to what to do with all the expensive furniture the government now owns.

Today’s comment is just a practice fun.

Republican lite can’t get through the GOP primary in WV.

A vote against the heroic and manly CIA director can very easily be made into an issue of Dem “softness” on DEFENSE and SECURITY. We already see how this gambit is being set up from Huckabee Sanders “Dems need to decide if they love this country or hate Trump” rhetoric this morning.

By voting symbolically Manchin and Heitkamp are cutting off this particular line of shit in their difficult re-election fights.

So? Trump can’t either.

One way to look at the Manchin issue is to turn it around and imagine whether, as a Republican in New York, you would vote to replace Chuck Schumer or Kirsten Gillibrand with some version of a Rockefeller Republican.

Yes, one would do that.

In WV the choice would never be to replace Joe Manchin with Elizabeth Warren, it would be to replace him with Jim Inhofe.

Manchin belongs in the Republican Party. Trade him for a bag of weed.

Bless your heart.

For some context:
The GOP Senator from WV has voted with Trumpp 96% of the time. Even Elizabeth Warren has voted Trumpp’s position 9% of the time. The median Dem Senator is at 26%. Many of the battles are fought and settled before a final bill comes to the floor.

Schumer wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t let the red-state senators vote against the party at times when one less Dem vote won’t matter in the Senate but will help the Senator back home.

Well he’s in so hopefully do well for the US regardless of how shitty Donald is.

Another look at him.
