Discussion: Manafort's Lawyers Allege Gates Lived A 'Secret Life'

I saw that as well; This is a classic burn from the Dictionary.com twitter account:

What woman wouldn’t want the hunka, hunka burnin’ love that is Rick “The Rickster” Gates.

Remember that the Bundy Brothers were found “not guilty” by a jury in what should have been an open-and-shut case for the Government.

I think something is fishy with Judge Ellis.

Oregonian here. That fiasco had little to do with the judge, and a lot to do with a) a weak conspiracy case developed by federal prosecutors, and b) a specific juror who was not persuaded by the conspiracy charges, and apparently was able to influence others in the jury room. My read of it is that the judge had little to do with it.

The other thing here is that it creates a certain amount of sympathy in the jury for the prosecutor if the jury perceives the judge as cranky and riding his ass.

What the prosecution needs to make very clear to the jury, is that Gates’ deal with prosecutors has NOTHING to do with whether they convict Manafort or not.

Gates goes free regardless.

UNLESS he lies.

So, his particular incentive isn’t to lie about Manafort, but the tell the truth.

Say what? He asked Gates if he was lying?

“Eat, Pray, Love” is beneath all of them. It’s a G or an H. Terrible and endless—chew-your-leg-off-to-escape level bad.

Where did you see Ellis interrupting Gates to ask about his lying? I’m not seeing that in the WaPo account of today’s proceedings.

It also sounds like Gates held up pretty well.

How is it possible for the defense to introduce evidence about Gate’s lifestyle when the prosecution was barred from introducing evidence about Manafort’s lifestyle. The judge’s bias is growing clearer day by day. Judge’s should be inscrutable. This one is not.

defense forced tconfession to a 2 month affair and using the money he took from manafort to finance. seems kind of weak

Paul Manafort, victim of another “Deep Conspiracy” conspiracy.

Ironically, hiding a true Deep Conspiracy that’s global in nature and involves treasonous behavior. Campaigning with the Russians constitutes a “high crime” by the Constitution, demanding impeachment and/or trial as a conspirator anyone who lies for him.

I think we are so soo shocked that that upstanding brilliant strategist Manafort would hire such a man.

On second thought, why would Trump hire Manafort for that matter?

Birds of a feather…

Add money, and his pockets are hunky…
