A spokesman for Manafort said that? Well that settles it then.

Such a pity that Mueller has all the receipts proving the tampering, isn’t it? Especially since the people he tried to tamper with are cooperating?

“Mr. Manafort is innocent and nothing about this latest allegation changes our defense,” spokesman Jason Maloni said in a statement Tuesday. “We will do our talking in court.”

When your lawyer responds to allegations that you committed new felonies post-indictment by insisting that you are innocent of the old charges, oh, you’re so very well and truly screwed.

If only I could think of some snarky word that rhymed with “Maloni”…hang on, I’ll think of something, maloni maloni maloni…

Feloni?

Innocent men influence witness testimony all the time. There was nothing untoward in Manafort’s actions. Manafort is so convinced of his own innocence that he’s going the extra mile to remind his old business associates how above-board all of their work was.

Yes, even for TPM that is an embarrassingly stupid headline.

Witness tampering, or, as Trump would put it, “hitting back.”

Manafort reeks of innocence.

From the NY Times article:

One witness told the F.B.I. that Mr. Manafort was trying to “suborn perjury,” prosecutors said. Two witnesses provided the texts to the F.B.I., which also searched Mr. Manafort’s cloud-based Apple account, according to court records.

Yeah, Paul, I think you might want to sell your summer time-share. I think you’ll be vacationing somewhere a little… spartan… this summer.

Paulie just re-read Papillon and is wondering how many flash drives he can stick in there, and whether they’ll be degraded.

“We will do our talking in court.”

Then STFU.

Manafort tried calling and texting one of the associates directly, while his longtime business partner Konstantin Kilimnik — dubbed by Mueller as “Person A” — reached out to the both associates in encrypted texts where he said he was trying to deliver a message from his “friend P.”

Voloshyn did acknowledge that he sent Manafort a draft of the op-ed through Konstantin Kilimnik, a longtime employee of Manafort’s in Ukraine. Kilimnik appears to be the person prosecutors referred to as “assessed to have ties” to Russian intelligence.

something, something,

something, something,

I think Paulie, being so tech-incompetent, will be getting the analog version.

What the spokesman really means is: “The checks continue to clear, and this sufficiently proves to us that our client is innocent, until further notice.”

OT – this is only for Prime, but I just read Josh’s newest installment regarding George Papadopoulos and Simona Mangiante Papadopoulos – so long story short, people have been suspecting Simona is not Italian… in fact she actually might be Russian.

Wow.
