Discussion for article #226821
So a guy with a backpack (who knows what was in it) walking down from the top of a major bridge in New York City gets what looks like “nicely” arrested, but a black teen in #Ferguson walking in the middle of the street is gunned down and killed.
WTF is up with police?
These incidents would not be happening at the Brooklyn Bridge if Obama would project strength.
so because of what happened in Ferguson, we should want police to only hostile-ly arrest people? What happened in Ferguson is a real tragedy, so if in the wake of that other police forces in other cities don’t engage in such criminal and devastating actions, I don’t think we should be asking “why not?!”
Because freedom.
Good taste in bridges. My personal favorite here in NYC. He’ll pay a fine, so it’s almost like an expensive amusement park ride.
Of course they didn’t shoot, this guy wasn’t black silly…next question…
I want everybody to be arrested like this guy, to be taken in “nicely.” Maybe this a credit to NY cops as a I think a few years ago an unknown person on top of that bridge would have been shot on site. My question is why can’t Ferguson be the same?
Typical of government to favor automobile travel over walking and cycling. Have you ever heard of somebody being arrested for driving on the main suspension cable of the Brooklyn Bridge?
My favorite too; so happy to live in its neighborhood.
First of all, this guy was on a bridge, so the first thing they are thinking is if he is suicidal. Then it looks like he is just a clown. They are roped off, etc. Plus this guy put up zero, and I mean zero, struggle. He knew he was getting arrested and was expecting it, so he just readily gave up.
Witnesses have mostly said Brown was scuffling with the cop. The ones who did not say that also said Brown was shot in the back, which was a lie.
Not saying the Ferguson shooting was justified, have not seen enough evidence yet (waiting for clothing tests for residue, very key piece). But my point is that these were two completely different situations, and to compare them is just silly.
Now, if this guy had all of a sudden started mixing it up with cops, he would have likely ended up in the East River. No doubt. And that would have been totally justified.
