Discussion: Majority Of Congressional Black Caucus Backs Pelosi Over Fudge, A Member, For Speaker

Anyone supported by that sexist jerk Tim “there are lots of women besides Pelosi” Ryan doesn’t deserve any consideration.

Good for the Black Caucus. Come on Dems, now is not the time for one of your food fights. We need someone that knows the ropes. In two years when things are maybe starting to change a wee bit pick another speaker.

sexist jerk?

How so?

If she wants to, Fudge can make things difficult for Pelosi, but winning the Speakership is another matter.

Of course the CBC supports Madame Speaker. They’re not stupid. But Ms. Fudge does appear so.

There is nothing wrong with Nancy. She has been an effective leader and for that reason demonized by the GOP/Fox News complex. Dems can elect anyone else and s/he will suffer the same fate if effective, and tons of scorn if not. Better stay wiith the proven leader, accusations that she is “divisive” are ridiculous specially if you compare her to the Republican Congregational leaders, Ryan, McCarthy, Scallise, McConnell… and not to mention Trump. They hate her because she is a woman, and believe me, electing a black woman will not stop Trump insults.

Hello? We need Nancy for the next two years. She is an excellent leader. Without her we would not have ObamaCare. She knows how to play the game. She will take it to trump. The 5 white guys pushing this have less of a progressive voting record than Nancy. WTF??? I’m beginning to think of these anti Nancy folks as traitors.

Traitors is who they are.

Oh, Fudge! Why do we Dems insist on doing this to ourselves. Who but Pelosi could have gotten Obama Care thru during the time of the Party of No?! Put her in, but make her start grooming the next gen if not an heir apparent. Why lose all that skill and experience? Gotta stop running scared from the GOP.

but make her start grooming the next gen if not an heir apparent.

That’s part of the problem. And she won’t “start grooming” anyone. Ever see her and Schumer share the spotlight with younger members? And her ‘Better Deal’, where did that go? She gets so many passes as if she’s an ‘Untouchable’. Rep Fudge is exactly right.

Let’s not forget: Pelosi pushed the ACA through when Obama buckled, but she also is responsible for the 65(?) House seats the Republicans picked up in 2010, two years into Obama’s presidency. And made no progress in taking back the House in 2012, 2014, 2016. Where was she then?

ETA: And then there’s this problem - through the eyes of our now largest voting block - Millennials.

.

Actually the scorn will spew regardless of effectiveness or failure, so D’s need to do what they have to do, and I think they’ve started to learn that. Pelosi sure has, she plainly doesn’t give a rat’s ass what fresh steamin’ pile o’ beauty the RWNM squeezes out on any given day.

What I find the most disturbing about this is the possibility that some Dems may be stupid enough to try and form their own version of the Freedumb Caucus.

what disappoints me is the FUDGE is already whining about racism…and why is she the front for 5 white guys…why didn’t one of them put themselves ‘out there’?

I can’t, for the life of me, figure out the play here.

If what Josh has written is right and that Moulton et al. are anti-Pelosi because she’s too left/they’re too right, then it seems like their actions would put McCarthy in (or close) to the Speaker’s role. I guess as a pure ideological move (if those Dems are really blue dogs in hiding) maybe is makes sense in a pure realpolitik way… But I can’t imagine Moulton’s constituents would be happy about that.

Even if as Dem you’re not excited about the gerontocracy at the top of the party, electing McCarthy doesn’t help you foster development of young, new Dem members.

Vote for Nancy on the contingency that she, Steny and the rest of the nanas and papas commit to a transfer of power over time. It aint’ rocket science.

Because she’s a stalking horse for them…

It lets them put her out there to cry racism, hope she brings along some easy marks who buy into that line, so that the centrist, rightist Dems don’t have to put out there that the real reason they don’t like Nancy is she’s too liberal.

the younger, new to office DEMS obviously haven’t considered that the old guard was once ‘one of them’… they persisted and learned… its a long ,tough road, no short cuts and no whining.

I haven’t researched how many of the newly elected Dem reps are on the record as ‘no’ on Pelosi. I know Jared Golden is just because he was asked about it repeatedly during the campaign. I’m sure there are others. Hopefully there’s a principled way (from their thinking) for them to get out of those rash promises.

She is clearly doing so in her own and allowing the anti Pelosi wing to use her. The sad part of this is that whether Pelosi wins or not, Fudge has damaged her standing by going about things this way.
Yesterday’s Huffington Post interview did her no favors. Whatever has been thrown at Pelosi over the years has never included racism, and Fudge’s complaint that is she wealthy who fundraised off wealthy people is just stupid.
