If I am not mistaken, there is a Supreme Court ruling that says States cannot impose restrictions based on " Myth and Fear "…with no scientific basis.
Pinette and the Maine CDC are now caught up in a document shredding scandal, which the FBI is looking into, involving the shredding of documents related to no-bid contracts.
Isn’t “Myth and Fear with No Scientific Basis” the Republican Party slogan?
“The court is fully aware of the misconceptions, misinformation, bad science and bad information being spread from shore to shore in our country with respect to Ebola,” he wrote. “The court is fully aware that people are acting out of fear and that this fear is not entirely rational.”
Whooo!!
Got some cold cuts, got some cold cuts!….Whooo-Hooo! Gettin’ some cold cuts today…!!!
She travels and works in undeveloped countries. As a ginger, her eyebrows are likely very light; in other words, if tattooed, no need for make-up. Great idea.
And these are the same people who rail against “government tyranny”?
Republicans only oppose government tyranny against themselves. Other people, on the other hand, likely have it coming to them.
Lepage is a well known dumbass, but Christie is still proving it, so this gouge at his plump political patoot is awesome. He was wrong, he had no basis for his wrongness, and he took the cowards way out.
His state just got financially downgraded for at least the sixth time and his administration is as corrupt as any going or gone. Now he is tied to Lepage for also being ignorant of easily understandable science and too pigheaded to admit it.
Christie, what a guy, what a crook, what a douche.
You go girl ! and good work, Judge !
I feel your pain. Get the same from my parents, both avid fox watchers. It’s really disturbing. I’m a nurse and have worked in infection control and so try to provide the rational, fact based case against a mandatory quarantine. Unfortunately, facts are no match for the fear based crap they hear all the time. The facts really are inconsequential when pitted against the tribe mentality and need to believe that fox would not deceive them. I guess the only good to come of it is to remind me to constantly question whether my beliefs are rational or not.
This mid-term election for Republicans is about fear and loathing. Republican got nothing else to run on. Consider this episode one more installment of the politics of fear and loathing. I hate to say it but Ebola may just cement their hold on the cretin vote and drive more of them to the polls.
I am physically ill about this midterm campaign. Have so many of us become such craven cowards that we can be manipulated so easily? I fear the answer is yes.
And don’t waste your time trying to talk about the science and facts and common sense. In their bubble world, these simply are ignored and decried as some kind of “liberal plot”.
In case you haven’t seen this written up before , check out his article on facts and the closed mind:
A real victory. I’m amazed by the frighteningly snide attitude of Saturday Night Live towards this poor woman, whom we should be treating as a hero. Protecting public safety is important, but protecting civil liberties is just as important.
Indeed – and one of the primary reasons it has spread as far as it has aside from the lack of resources for appropriate care and facilities is the custom of washing the body after death. We don’t do that here.
Our politicians who bemoan the President’s alleged “lack of leadership” have been an utter failure with regards to leadership on this issue. They are following the typical pattern of fear mongering to garner votes, and as with the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and all the rest, the fact that people’s lives hang in the balance means absolutely nothing to these “pro-lifers.”
And it won’t be possible to protect public safety if health workers are discouraged from their missions of mercy. We should be making it as easy as possible for them, not treating them like Sheriff Joe Arpaio treats inmates.
In some instances, it’s complacency and inaction with no scientific basis, particularly pertaining to the fossil fuel industry. Either way, science contradicts the holy word of the lard, therefore must be cast into the pit of fire.
