Discussion: Madison Police Chief Prayed With Victim's Family Hours After Fatal Police Shooting

Discussion for article #234082

“There’s nothing the chief can say short of changing the system.”

“staging protests over officer-involved deaths during rush-hour traffic, demanding jail officials release 350 black inmates and imploring police to stay out of black neighborhoods.”

I have to say, none of that is at all helpful whatsoever. None of it. I’m genuinely unimpressed with that group and their leadership. Telling the Chief, who appears to be making a real effort to make the right moves, that there’s nothing he can say is not how you encourage dialogue or change. As for their asinine list of “demands,” well, asinine. Demanding that black communities be treated as “no go zones” IS THE WRONG MESSAGE and damaging to the cause.

“Grayson said Koval has had plenty of time to prepare for a racially charged shooting after watching what unfolded in Ferguson.”

Apparently, so has Grayson. Yeah yeah, get mad at that all you want, but this Grayson character seems to me to be exactly the type of person we DON’T want leading this type of group. It’s people like that who appear to be looking for a riot rather than quiet and she seems to desire nothing but confrontation and escalation.

Its truly shameful how the media handles these situations, rushing to premature judgment and creating more division and hatred.
