A similar thing happened out here in Oregon. A motorist inexplicably shot and killed a traffic cop while he was performing his duties. The community named the road on which he was killed the Officer Chris Kilcullen Memorial Highway in honor of the fallen cop. Nobody expects this to happen.

Of course the cop didn’t see black skin so he wasn’t on-edge and ready for violence.

The really ironic thing is that if the shooter and been black the trooper probably would have shot him first and this time would have been “justified”, for lack of a better term.

So here we had a good guy with a gun and a bad guy with a gun and it didn’t turn out the way the NRA tells us it will. Proving again the problem isn’t not enough guns but far too many.

Thank you for posting Officer Vincent’s picture. He looks like a sweet man who was probably a much loved husband and father.

I was checking this story out on the local ABC affilliate’s website and lo & behold, there was a story about one Chad Daigle copping to fracturing his toddlers skull and breaking his jaw–he’s now in prison.
It happened so recently, February, that it was still being teased on the same page as the alleged cop killer, Kevin Daigle. No indication they are related, but in teh small community of Lake Charles, what are the odds they’re not? I call made for tevee movie rights on “The Daigles: Butchers from the Bayou”

I join in the chorus of sorrow for Officer Vincent’s family. I also have to remind myself that “professionally trying to talk a man out of the vehicle” is professional, unlike the cops who shoot black people first and plant evidence later. My fear is that this is going to give those cops and their defenders more excuses to justify that kind of thing.

If only Daigle was black this could have been avoided. The trooper could have shot him in the front seat of the truck before he exited with the shotgun. Hell, he could have followed up on the multiple DUIs, visited him at his house and shot him on his front porch for that matter.

Here’s a fun fact: As of July 1, a new law in Indiana made sawed-off shotguns legal in that state. there was a similar measure making its way through the Arizona legislature early this year, but unclear where that one landed. #GunsDontKillPeopletheNRADoes

If he had been a Black Guy the cop would have approached with his gun out, and probably shot him before he even moved, or did anything wrong.
