Is Grover the Pope of Louisiana or merely playing the Jonny Quest role?
Or ânumber threeâ
Grover Norquist the man who brought âHey hold my beer and watch thisâ to a governing principle
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain !-- (Heâs probably just the janitor ) â
Remind me again which public office the people of Louisiana voted Grover Norquist into?
The most disturbing sentence:
ââŚ(elected) conservative Republican state representatives took their complaints to Norquist himself, asking him to give them some wiggle room on raising taxesâŚâ
Who elected whom in Louisiana? How did a lobbyist in Washington, DC become the de facto Governor of Louisiana?
If I was a voter in that state Iâd be mighty pissed.
I feel like Iâm watching nine-year-olds in a tree fort.
Republicans have NO BALLSâŚEMPTY PANTSâŚdisgusting.
The fact that these guys have to kiss the feet of Norquist to proceed with the basic governance of their own constituents is evidence of a completely broken democracy. If Jindal and some of these other governors had a conscience, any shred of courage, and a respect for how our society has been designed to work and the people who elected them to govern, theyâd tell Norquist to go to hell. They just look like corrupted cowards at this point.
What if one were in an Army in which the only people capable of fighting were 5-year olds.
That some of the other soldiers were incapable of avoiding constant distractions (enough to follow orders).
That the rest of the soldiers would ONLY take orders from the most perfect officers and NCOâs
Those three subsets are
Republican voters
Democratic voters
Democratic voters
Just where does Norquist fit into the Constitution?
#SAD #SICK #STUPID The duly elected representatives of the state of Louisiana have to go groveling to Grover Norquist, the unelected nobody of nothing, for permission to act in the best interest of their electorate? Do they realize that they have been emasculated? #SAD #SICK #STUPID
Do any of Louisianaâs voters ever wonder why, since he has not been elected to any office, Grover Norquist is running their state?
Yeah, I have to agree - I am not sure why everyone bows so hard to Norquist. Does he raise money? Beyond making a lot of noise I just donât get it.
Wait, these are the same people who talk about the âtyrannyâ of Obama and how he acts like a king, right? And they donât see howâŚodd it is to be asking permission from an unelected pseudo-leader to do stuff?
Donât they know? You take a big stick and go stand with it in front of Grover. Then you yell, âI break with thee! I break with thee! I break with thee!â Then break the stick over your knee and throw it on the ground. That breaks the pledge, breaks the spell, and allows you to go back and do your job. Idiots.
The Louisiana GOP has made two mistakes. (1) Signing some ridiculous pledge to follow the mentality of some guy named Grover Norquist. What they hell was he gonna do if they didnât sign it? And (2) Thinking that this âpledgeâ was some kind of irrevocable law that required the emperorâs approval to ignore it. I hope that the voters of Louisiana know that some guy not involved in the least with their state is more important to their representatives than they are. Should we raise taxes to provide for the education of our next generations? I donât know! Letâs ask Grover!
His tentacles run deep in Washington D.C. politics. If you defy his tax pledge he will use his influence to recruit a plausible primary challenger to you in your next election. He will see to it that challenger is funded and advertised to a sufficient level he/she represents a real threat to your re-election. Now, despite being in a âsafeâ district your campaign is put in the position of having to raise much more money than in previous contests, for you have two opponents, the primary and then the general. Youâll need bigger staff, youâll be forced to make more promises to supporters, youâll burn through favors you might have kept in your hip pocket. Keeping office suddenly becomes a major task, one that heretofore was a given. You might even lose. So you kow-tow to Norquist. The rubes voting for you seem to care not their schools, infrastructure and public servant quality descend into the toilet. Theyâre as maniacal as Norquist in thinking the magic elixir of life is getting everything for nothing. Somehow everything is supposed to function and stay fixed for nothing. You could actually propose a ballot measure wherein no one paid any taxes to anyone for any reason and it would pass. Norquist knows his marks.
Jesus Christ, donât these Republican clowns have any self respect. Groveling at the foot of some goof ball whose never held a real job in his entire life? Freaks and Social Misfits, I keep saying it and they keep proving me right.
crackpot governor, crackpot legislators, in thrall to a crackpot gadfly. whatâs not to like?
