Discussion: London Mayor Rejects Trump's Muslim Ban Exemption: It's Not 'Just About Me'

As a Canadian from the Toronto area, I thoroughly sympathize, since I spent most of the period between 2012-2014 explaining “No I don’t know what the deal with Rob Ford is…” to international colleagues whenever my place of origin came up. No one means any harm by it, but it just gets exhausting. Steel yourself for the same, my American friends.

On a related note, on a few occasions I’ve seen folks in the airport carrying bags festooned with “Nobama!” and “NRA4EVER” and similar stickers. I thought at the time that it seemed unnecessary to broadcast one’s political affiliations on every available channel like that… but maybe it’s time to start. I predict #NeverTrump or “Trump’s America is not my America” or similar stickers and buttons will start cropping up all over international traveler’s apparel…

JGabriel,

Exactly correct.

More to the point, how could humpback and mattinpa be so stupid as not to see it from the start?

Sometimes the most comforting thing is just to know someone understands. Luckily I have no international travel foreseen for a while, and if, God forbid, the SOB wins then embarrassment while traveling will be the least of our worries.
