Discussion: London Mayor: Any Official Trump Visit To Britain ‘Would Not Be Welcomed’

Then they don’t know what they’re talking about (and I’d like to see a link). A nuclear launch order, like any order, may only be followed if it is lawful. And an order to destroy the capital of a friendly state without provocation would be unlawful under the laws of armed conflict. If Lt. Smith orders Private Brown “Shoot that prisoner of war!” it’s Private Brown’s duty to refuse to follow that order. Same goes for if the CinC orders Maj Jones to launch a missile at London.

Let’s hope!

He was already pretty unpopular, at least compared to Obama.

Trump: “Fine I only like first sons, second sons not so much.”

Actually, Obama and Prince Harry have become friends over the years and worked on a few charities together. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Obamas would be invited, even though it would be a smallish wedding (for a royal) and not a state event.

I think the mayor’s giving Trump a break. A parade in a slow car through several of the more “affordable” neighborhoods in London, which would draw an appropriate “welcoming” reaction would be more to my liking.
Of ourse the Congenital Coward in chief wouldn’t go for it.

A previous meeting was postponed due to safety concerns for the Queen. They expected an overwhelming number of protesters and counter-protesters, so they put it off. Now there’s even less reason to invite him.

The Grinch president.

England is a real nuclear power. They could nuke Mar-a-Lago with ease. Wait a second, I live 2 miles from Mar-a-Lago. This is a revolting development.

Why do you insult the Grinch?
Remember—he had a conversion, which Trump is incapable of having.

Pre-conversion Grinch, of course.

The Grinch had his heart melted by a little girl. Nah, Trump is more like Slobodan Milošević than the Grinch.

It is a less than settled assertion there exists dependable, fail safe methods in all circumstances that would lead to the refusal of a Presidential order to launch nuclear weapons.

OK. In the ‘first’ place, May got ahead of her skies to invite DJT for a ‘state visit.’ A regular visit would have been ok, but a state visit is something that is voted on. THEN DJT’s people negotiated what he wanted from a visit: a private dinner with the Queen and a formal ride in the Golden Carriage with the Queen.

At that point Prince Phillip announced he was ‘retiring’ (well what is the dude, 96 or something?) and the Queen got what was called The Queen’s Flu (I had it last year, ugly ugly cold). So things were postponed but THEN he began insulting Mayor Khan and things got worse and worse. Now it is even worse and worser and WORST. I had read last summer that when he was going on that terrific European visit ‘last year’ (you know, where he pushed the President of Montenegro aside and totally endeared himself to our traditional allies) he was going to ‘sneak’ in a drop off somewhere in England but again the Brits said the ‘security’ was too problematic.

I am old enough to have a memory that NO British PM has ‘ever’ bad-rapped the US President, not even during the Viet Nam or Iraq Wars. This is unprecedented, but we keep saying that, eh?

I don’t know what to do either.

Put your house up for sale. I’ll go to work on Theresa May.

If so, that would be ironic given that Tramp himself is a second son.

If luck holds for us and our friends the Brits, there will be no need to invite or not invite trump because he won’t be BLOTUS by the time the wedding is held. Problem solved.
