Discussion for article #229753
We all saw that coming.
Yes we did. I just wish it hadn’t been called three minutes after the polls closed. I feel so much better if they at least had to count some votes before calling it.
I need to leave this state. I know a whole lot of people who work to get Democrats elected. I’ve worked over the years to get Democrats elected. But, way too many people here are happy to vote against their own self interests. It will never change.
and kasich won ohio; haley won n.c. and, jfc, ed gillespie has a shot in virginia against mark warner…
democrats give people no reason to support them when they run against their own party leader; and denounce the signature achievements… why support cowards?
I support Democrats and get how difficult it is to run in a state hostile to Dems. Where do you live? I’m just curious. Because I’ve lived all over the country and this political climate is just depressing. So, if you haven’t recently lived where the Tea Party is a respected party, it’s tough to know what it’s like. I’ve lived in a liberal area, and it’s great to find like minded people. I don’t talk politics to most of the middle aged white people in SC because I’d like to have a few friends.
You know what, my high schooler endures crap at the lunch table because she’s been raised in a liberal home. SC is a backwards state where education is near the bottom, we are number 2 for domestic violence and the govenor can’t even commit to taking guns away from convicted abusers. Yet, her election was called in five minutes. How is that not being a coward? She is so afraid of the NRA and gun nuts that she can’t take guns out of the hands of people convicted of domestic violence. But no one held it against her.
So, I am not going to sit being angry at Democrats. I will continue to vote for them because I think there is a real difference between Dems and Republicans.
Chuck Todd approves.
‘sc near the bottom in education’ … but that’s the kind of thing that drives me nuts – that democrats are unable to craft a message that points that out and capitalize on it. instead, they run away from policies that have benefited people; or dodge questions whose answers are obvious.
SC doesn’t care if they are near the bottom in education. They don’t care that they are second in domestic violence. At least they get to keep their guns. It’s hard to understand the mentality unless you’ve lived with it. It’s hard to understand the open racism unless you’ve heard it. Because I am a white, middle aged woman, who goes to church most everyone assume I am a Republican. Even worse they are fine saying the most vile racist things in front of me.
Again, I don’t know where you live, but nothing prepared me for this, and I’ve never gotten used to it, despite living here for 15 years.
having grown up in the midwest, i get the gun culture (along with an overtly racist father); but i just don’t understand how people don’t want to see their children educated, provided with a healthy environment to live, the most vulnerable protected…
