Discussion: Lindsey Graham Practically Begs Kavanaugh To Overturn Roe v. Wade

I want states that allow abortion to pass Mann Act-type laws restricting abortion only to women who have been residents in the state for a minimum of 60-90 days excepy in cases of rape or incest. (Police reports required.) Why, so that EVERYONE in red states suffer. Make red state voters face the music.

Daily I’m increasingly convinced he’s been kompromatted.

Graham sometimes seems to want to be seen as the voice of reason. Then, he seems to want to be seen as Trump’s ā€œMini-Meā€, and aligned with the far-right. Then, he wants to be seen as an independent voice, in the mold of his idol, Senator McCain. Then, he can’t seem to remember what Senator McCain actually stood for, and ends up standing for nothing. I’m sorry, but he just makes me think, ā€œHey look, it’s Senator Porky Pig!ā€

I agree! That or he is lobbying hard for a job in the tRump Fun House. I would be thrilled if they’d drag his stinking skunk carcass out of South Carolina!

I’ve always believed that he’s been that way for years. The difference now is that, like so many other Cockholster-inspired behaviors, he’s been given permission to show it.

I agree with you, and man have we got a fight on our hands. Well, I’m past childbearing age now, but my teens will have religious busybodies to contend with from here to the far horizon. I fear for them.

My god, these religious busybodies are incredibly industrious in their interstate nosiness… I wish I could feel comfortable laughing at such efforts, but with the GOP senate loading up the courts with ultraconservatives, there’s nothing that can be dismissed as too ridiculous to pass.

I put it forward as a thought experiment because I don’t really think it should ever be done.

I truly appreciate your sentiment about what the red voters in red states are doing to the country, but I wouldn’t want a single woman who has made the hard choice to have an abortion to be prevented just to make a political point. Even one as important as this.

The essence of Roe was that gov’ts didn’t have a sufficiently compelling interest to interfere in a woman’s private decisions about her own body before medical viability of the fetus she carries. That was a major and historic expansion of actual liberty, not the hand-waving Ayn-Randian bullshit variety but something very real and tangible to half the population.

So what variety of ā€œlibertyā€ was our illustrious pearl-clutcher referring to? Is ā€œlibertyā€ only protected when it is defined as a privilege for certain addled busybodies to interfere with another’s personal privacy? That seems to be the Reactionary Party’s new definition of ā€œlibertyā€.

Once we have the Presidency and the Senate at the same time I hope we have the spine to appoint extra new members to SCOTUS to make up for the theft of Garland’s seat. There’s no rule it has to be nine justices, the President is always allowed to expand the court if they desire. Granted, the court will then always flip whenever the ruling party have both 1600 PA and the Senate but that’s much better than decades of a conservative court thanks to Mitch McConTurtle stealing Garland’s seat and giving it to some heartless Conservative maximalist who would upturn centuries of precedents to destroy the federal government. Besides one of the conservative justices passing away during a Democratic administration this is the best way to properly balance the courts to where they should be if McConArtist had not stolen Garland’s seat. /Rant 0ff.

If they want to insure a Blue Tsunami in 2020 overturn Roe. I don’t want to see it happen but if it does I hope it maximizes our voter turnout to the point we win deep red states like Alabama and Idaho.
