Discussion: Limbaugh: VA Hospital Waiting Lists Are Essentially 'Death Panels'

Discussion for article #223001

Limbaugh better be careful. The repugs are using this issue to attack Obama, but can imagine this has been occurring for years, at least back to Bush.

Many won’t want to believe the death panel component or death panel aspect, but he knows that the VA “purposefully” lets people pass away. That should scare the poop out of his target audience.

‘It’s simply unconscionable.’

Well, if you would think about the costs of treating the walking (and non-walking) wounded before you start wars of choice/based on lies, maybe that would factor into the considerations for entering said wars. Talking about ‘Death Panels’!!! What the hell is war?

Hell no! This motherfucker rooted for them from the beginning. Fuck his cyst anointed anus (that got him out of the Vietnam War).

That was the quote I was about to lift/expound upon.

If ®s are going to begin any utterance with: '“It’s simply unconscionable…” --then perhaps exercising some conscience aforehand-- in any instance-- might lend them some crumb of creedence.

Whereas this gasbag usta’ peeve me fiercely?
I barely even smirk anymore.

That got me riled up…

Why do we care what a children’s book author has to say about the VA?

Perhaps Lush Rimjob and his contemporaries should have fought for more money for the VA then…

Yes, but unless and until it can be proven, documentably, that it pre-dates 2009, it is a dangerous attack that could get legs. Think of the timing on it all - the veterans that were coming back wounded were probably wounded prior to Obama’s election, but didn’t require the services until post-election.

The fact that this has gone on so long with no discussion by the current administration (and I am still an Obama supporter, honestly) is really a black-eye on the administration. This didn’t just start up last week or last month, but has been going on for years and no move, statement or action was made to correct it. I don’t remember anything said in the State of the Union addresses about ensuring that the VA gets a full upgrade to improve service delivery or anything remotely like it.

I totally understand the concept that most Americans will yell about supporting the troops while they are in the war or combat venue, but there has been a disturbing trend in this country towards ignoring the repercussions or end-results of what happens when we send our troops in to battle. No one cares and, it seems, returning soldiers and their families are ignored.

It’s not unlike the pro-lifers who want abortion made fully illegal, but want all post-natal care programs eliminated - they aren’t pro-life; they are pro-birth. What happens after the womb is empty is not their problem.

To the subject at hand - the problem with what needs to be done here is that there is no quick fix. Establishing new systems and standards will take years. When you look at the initial roll out (I said, initial, not the post-correction roll-out) of the ACA website and what a mess that was, we can pretty much be sure it’ll take a decade to fix.

The other option is to privatize it - and that will never go over well with the American people. After all, the VA is entirely socialized medicine, no matter how you look at it.

As for the death panels Limbaugh claims the evidence is pretty clear, really? I will not hold my breath waiting for Limbaugh to lay out exactly what that pretty clear evidence is that there are death panels. Incompetence yes, but there are no death panels. Like hospitals in the private sector some are better than others, V.A. hospitals are no different, some are better than others. It goes without saying that the problems at the Phoenix V.A. hospitals need to be fixed, and heads need to roll.

Which Sector are you reporting from Dino? Need the communiques…

Rush you ignorant slut, any idiot knows that the ACA has no impact on the VA, and of equal importance, the two unnecessary wars that Bush started, and you supported, caused much of this backlog.

So where were you in the bush years when this was happening?? Rush, you are a fucking idiot. This is not a Republican or Democrat issue, its an AMERICAN issue!
