Discussion: 'Life Threatening' Hurricane Harvey Strengthens To Category 2 Storm

Cat 3 now.

Too bad there’s no FEMA director to handle this.

SAD!

The tone of this article seems to suggest that many aren’t taking this very seriously. That’s scary.

No need for concern. This is all just fake news, perpetrated by a bunch of know-nothing climate scientists. There have been hurricanes before, just as there have been periods of global warming and cooling before. Nothing we can do about it, and no reason to be alarmed.

“Heck of a job, Donnie!”

Shocking, I know, but there actually is a FEMA director - Brock Long - who by some reports may actually be competent at his job. Can’t be worse than heckuva job Brownie…

I hope.

Edit: No one at the wheel for NOAA or NASA. Also important for this kind of stuff.

Even if Brock Long is very competent at his job, it won’t do him much good if his agency is stripped of funds. Because the regime is looking to have individual States pony up more funds to save their areas after a disaster.

People are taking this seriously. It’s like earthquake prep in CA - you take care of business but don’t panic. Since Katrina and Ike, people know the drill.

That said, instead of wasting time on the border wall, it would be great if Congress would fund the “Ike Dike” for the Houston Ship Channel.

I’ve not seen that yet. Reports I am reading say the expect it to be a Cat 3 by landfall, but its currently still a Cat 2.

Did I miss any Tweets of sympathy and support from his Magnificence?

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Texas as they face this storm.”

It’s being taken seriously here.

Idiot Blake Farenthold is being interviewed on MSNBC. He said the Corpus seawall was designed by the same person who created Mount Rushmore…so…there’s that. Wha…??

They have pointed out the people that are staying in their RVs that are about 300 yards from the gulf in Port Lavaca…Wow.

A little caulk around the doors, and they should float just fine.

I am 30 miles inland from Galveston. We are gonna have periods of 25-30 mph winds which is not that big of a deal. 20-30 inches of rain coupled with the tidal surge is the big deal.

Thank you. Truce . I apologize for my part in our brouhaha. Don’t even remember what started it now.

Those wind speeds are way less than the weathermen here were predicting - I’m in New Mexico at the moment.

The rainfall sounds about the same as they’ve been predicting.

I hope you do stay safe and dry.

That’s very nice of you and certainly = that’s ok. It happens on comments boards.
