Discussion: LePage Asks Maine Supreme Court: Did I Really Botch All Those Vetoes?

Discussion for article #238545

I hope they hurry up and give him an opinion which will then lead to him ignoring said opinion because it disagrees with his made up views on the state Constitution and his desire to be a dictator.

Maybe he can ask for a Mulligan once he finds out how badly he messed up?

Dear 40% of Maine voters, really? You can’t do better than this?

This is what happens when you elect someone who has no comprehension of civics.

Did you really botch those vetoes…that would be YES!

WOW!

You have to abide by the same laws (for advancing or vetoing bills) that your legislature does.

There were 3 candidates on the ballot both times this guy was elected, and both times he got less than 40% of the vote. Maine should change their constitution and have a run-off election with the two top candidates if they insist upon letting third parties and others run in an election. Then only silver lining in the cloud is I think there are term limits of 2 terms on a governor, so he can’t run again in 2017.

His tone is decidedly less confrontational. I think he knows he’s lost. This may be his political obituary, but then again, I don’t know Maine all that well.

I added 40% in front of Maine voters.

Yeah, after the Maine Supreme Court definitively tars and feathers this ignorant scoundrel, the Mainers need to run him and his sorry asshattery out of town on a rail…

Typical Far Right Republican. They make mistakes, mess up things real good and then try to change the rules to make the situation even worse. He’s the portrait of incompetence and stupidity, as well as an anarchist.

“I must know whether my vetoes stand."

The Democratic speaker of the Maine House, Mark Eves, said in a statement Friday that LePage’s move was nothing but “legal gymnastics" and urged quick action by the court.

Considering what just happened in Wisconsin, it would be interesting to hear what the composition in the Maine SC is…we don’t want another case of judges who do a favor to a governor based on party allegiance.

LePage’s perfect retirement home: The Gaspe’ Peninsula. Let’s get him there soon, and let him endure a winter there.

In reply to what you are wondering about the Maine State Supreme Court: Here’s the link to the biographies of all 7 of them. The cheif justice is a woman appointed by Angus King in 2006, and the others were appointed at other distant times, so not to worry about their independence.
