It’s curious how a non-fatal, “righteous shooting” doesn’t elicit as many posts as the “accidental” ones do.
Guns keep you safe. That’s the NRA’s story and they’re sticking to it.
You noticed that too. Really comes across like that’s the case. I had a supervisor many years ago that would tell anyone in earshot that he would love to use his gun to shoot someone that deserved it. My feeling is that if someone is looking for a reason, they eventually will find it.
“When Williams shot the intruder he realized it was his nephew because he recognized his moan after he was shot. Williams said his nephew then escaped through a window and ran away from the house.”
He was able to identify his nephew because he recognized the “moan”… So, how did he know the nephew grabbed the 2 steak knives ??
If you can see two knives, it seems like you would be able to see the person who was taking them.

This mentality is why, if you project survey responses from gun owners on their defensive use of firearms to the entire population, you get somewhere in the range of 2M such uses. Attempts to correct for recall bias and such brings it down to 200-400K, but the standard adjustment techniques can’t cope with the unprecedented bravado and eagerness of many gun owners to brandish their “manhood” in public. Based on news reports, I’d be surprised if there were more than a couple thousand a year, even including ones like this.
