Discussion: Legally Blind Man Shoots Nephew During Suspected Break-In

Discussion for article #226838

Ready! Fire! Aim!

Wow, talk about baiting. I go to the link to read the article, and the “nephew” had just cut power to his uncle’s house, broke in and had grabbed two knives. VERY justified shooting, good job by the nearly blind guy against his punk nephew.

Yet if you read the article on here, it makes it sound like some guy accidentally shot his nephew. Wow.

Yup, great job by Uncle blind against his punk nephew. Since he is blind he had to wing the aim part, but good for him. What a POS that kid is, shutting off power, breaking in, and then looking to hurt his uncle (or maybe kill him) with knives. Bravo Uncle Blind Man.

“When Williams shot the intruder he realized it was his nephew because he recognized his moan after he was shot.”

My question: Why would the uncle recognize a moan? Has he heard the nephew moaning before? If so, in what context?

So, it was a 'good shoot" after all?? Apparently his family is just a bunch of thieves and hoodlums? Which one was black?

Is the gun OK? Did the legally blind shooter get to keep his gun? Does he carry a back-up? How may shots did he fire and how many hit the nephew?

The shooter was black, and I would think the nephew is at least part black. Why is that even relevant? The nephew cut power to his uncle’s house, broke in and grabbed some knives. So the almost blind uncle is supposed to do nothing? And how the hell did race enter into it?

Could be any one of a number of things. They spent time together. Might be when he hurt himself, his team lost, etc. I think he recognized more the vocal tone.

Oh just,. . . Son-of-a-bitch!

So, it was his own nephew?

I bet the uncle didn’t see that coming!

(I’ll show myself out.)

Was his nephew a “thug”? Was there marijuana in his system? According to Fox News, if either of those conditions apply, then shooting him was completely justified.

The nephew was no angel.

Another chapter in the exploits of Florida Man!

His nephew cut power to the house, broke on, and grabbed knives to go after his uncle. I’d say that qualifies as thug. I don’t care what FOX News says either way. If Fox News says to stop at a red light at a busy intersection, I don’t care, but based on what I know I will still stop.

Yes, the kid is a punk as thug. Shooting him was quite justified.

Yes, considering what he did, he was a thug, about to do bodily harm to his uncle. Shooting justified.

Mr. Garcia,

The city is called Tampa. The bay, on which it sits, is called Tampa Bay. The surrounding cities and towns situated around the bay are collectively known as The Tampa Bay Area, or, just the Bay Area.

Funny, I didn’t get that at all. The key is the term break in. I took that to mean that the nephew was breaking in (duh) and thus was not shot accidentally. The part about grabbing two steak knives and the guy saying that meant the nephew meant to do him harm make it pretty obvious that it was no accident. Even if you only read the headline you should have understood the kid was breaking in.

MrComments,

Do you own a gun? If so, would you truthfully answer a question?

Is there a part of you that wishes someone would give you a reason to use deadly force against them?
