and your fate after the payoff?
Inquiring minds want to know.
What promises and payments were made
Was it you who scooped Roger Stone or was it a well orchestrated setup?
Just askin’
wow, that’s a pretty crappy assumption. Watershed moment in US cultural history, but she’s a partisan cretin?
I can’t really disagree with her. Presuming nobody else comes forward and this turns out to have been a one-time thing, I hope Franken runs in 2020 (because he has been a competent and effective Senator) and welcomes a serious primary challenge (because his pre-Senate conduct was beneath the office). How Minnesotans decide, well, that is and should be up to them.
So what do you want her to say?
Or is this going to be another thread of slut-shaming and blaming the victim for not meeting some puritan standard of virtuousness? Are we going to see people post more semi-naked pictures of her?
Senator Franken did and said the right things. Maybe Tweeden is trying to do the same.
As the dust settles, I think one of Tweeden’s allegations seems to be a little lacking in credibility. The photo referenced shows Franken doing a frat boy level gag. It doesn’t show him touching her as she claimed. There were witnesses there, and if they say under oath what has been reported (that it was a gag and she was in on it), it would definitely change things.
The other allegation, that Franken wanted to rehearse their kissing scene and went too far with it is more credible.
Also, the timing of Roger Stone’s tweet, Trump’s tweets and RU bot activity tell me that the GOP intended to time the release of this info for max political gain.
Franken and the Dems have taken the right approach - take the matter seriously, don’t attack the accuser and go through the ethics process. It aligns to where the American people are on these issues - they want accusers heard and accused folks to face the music in a fair process. No point attacking Tweeden. The gaps in her story will be revealed in an investigation away from a political back and forth.
“…she didn’t share her story because she wanted Franken to resign from Congress.”
No, she shared her story because she was paid off by the GOP. How does one “grope” with their hands floating an inch above a woman’s chest, while she is wearing an inch of Kevlar? The allegations of an unwanted kiss are much more serious, but I really do question this woman’s credibility. It’s all a bit too convenient, coming on the heels of the actual scandal involving Roy Moore. When is he going to apologize? Let’s leave it up to the Senate Ethics Committee, shall we? The voters of Minnesota will have their chance to speak in three years.
She voluntarily made a career out of presenting herself as a sex object. She invested in plastic surgery to further that image of herself as a sex object. She was on the USO tour because of her career of presenting herself as a sex object. When a bunch of comedians make a joke about her being a sex object…then suddenly its a bridge too far and she is dismayed?? I take that back. Because it wasn’t suddenly…it was over a decade later!!
Hmm…what often happens to women who try to make a career out of being sex objects in a decade? They age, and get replaced with a younger generation wanting to follow in their footsteps (And THERE is a whole conversation waiting to be had). So they take up being a lick spittle for people like Hannity to keep that money rolling in.
Crocodiles cry better tears.

I’m still not totally sure that the statement “Tweeden says the photo shows her being groped” is accurate. Variations of that statement have been pushed by a variety of news organizations.
The statement “Tweeden says she was groped, and here’s a picture too” may be accurate. The statement “Tweeden says she was forcefully kissed, and here’s something else kinda gross” may be accurate. Certainly the statement “This photograph shows Franken groping Tweeden” is false.
Honestly, no news organizations have covered themselves in glory with the reporting on this story. I think the photograph gave the story some sense of immediacy that resulted in some sloppy language, and nobody’s ever all that anxious to own up to the fact that they didn’t carefully parse their wording.
Why is it more credible? The photo, regardless of what people say under oath, clearly was not the “groping” that she alleged at the start. So, her credibility should already be put in question because of that. Yet you seem to want to take a he said/she said moment and award it to the woman, regardless of the fact that she misled already once on this event, and Franken didn’t?
That’s a mighty odd scale you use.
Not much else one can do; but having felt the projection of “partisan media attack!” from the GOP during the early days of the Roy Moore accusations, I couldn’t shake the feeling like the GOP were going to use this as part of their arsenal. Basically, Swift Boat 2.0: This time, with more ladies.
I’m not saying that this is wholly that (although the timing situation is definitely odd), but it’s something I feel is going to happen at least once.
Roy Moore hasn’t apologized to anyone.
I guess on the 2nd allegation, it is he said/she said, and it’s not clear that there were witnesses to this incident. Also, that sort of thing has happened in Hollywood/entertainment for years. I’m sure Al has an answer to that, but in the court of public opinion the scale has shifted towards the accuser with the burden on the accused. Burden is on Al on that one. I think his ethics review will be focused more on this. As to the photo, it’s not evidence of groping, but it is evidence of a joke done in poor taste. It’s hardly the thing one hangs one’s defense on, but it wasn’t an actual groping (is virtual groping a crime?).
I hope not
Hooyah
It’s beyond odd that she doesn’t want an Ethics Hearing and he does. That would be under oath, right? She claimed to be groped while asleep. How did she know? Others were there, what do they have to say about the thing? Testifying under oath is kryptonite to lying wingnuts, not that being a Fox ‘News’ conservative contributor makes her a wingnut. This as with the city of Oakland, there is no ‘there’ there.
I think, she is getting cold feet…
It’s beyond odd that she doesn’t want an Ethics Hearing
Where in this article is this stated? Or have you seen it in other reporting?
Oh, with the traction that this story has gotten, it’s gonna happen many more times.
