Discussion: Leaked Emails Reveal Colin Powell Sees Trump As ‘A National Disgrace’

But the right wing pundits will only use this to claim confirmation that Hillary is a witch.

Exactly.

Those who support Putin’s prick are rather fond of the idea of disgracing America. They are very angry you know, and someone is going to pay. In the coming nation of Frumplandistan, all those others will be made to suffer, which will of course glorify and finally make Donald’s mob rich and happy. The exact details of that mechanism are still being worked out but it’s gonna happen, believe me.

He’s referring to you, MSM…

I don’t. Fruit of the poison tree. Just because this particular hacking venture reveals info that is against HO doesn’t mean that Team Hillary should or would ever use it for her benefit

A question I’d rather hear answered by John The Spineless McCain.

It’s rather obvious that Powell is considering what people write about him after he dies, not just during his lifetime.
You may not like it, but this is a respectable point of view, in my opinion.

I don’t like this at all. Any glee I feel about Powell’s disparaging remarks about Trump are more than counteracted by their source. When the media becomes a conduit for Russian cyber-espionage, it’s not a win for any of us.

Powell–one of the great phonies in American politics. From My Lai to the U.N. there was no lie he would not tell to give cover to the Republican party. Oh, I’d love to have a seat when he comes before the Almighty and is held accountable for his deceit…

At least McCain has the minimally plausible excuse he’s running for office in a traditionally red state and doesn’t want to alienate a significant portion of his base. What the hell is Powell worried about, that maybe being frank would peg him as too edgy for that seat on the board of Archer Daniels Midland? Getting ignored by Jimmy Kimmel? Being dropped off Liz Cheney’s Christmas card list?

This will be positive (although very mildly) for Drumpf.

I completely disagree.

While we may think Powell is a duplicitous coward, he’s still respected by plenty of old-school, non-TeaParty Republicans. Powell’s comments won’t increase Trump’s support in any meaningful way—he’s already got the white racist vote wrapped up—while it will continue the process of bleeding away those Republicans and moderate independents who aren’t completely insane. And that bleeding away will more than counteract those true voting Democrats who credulously swallow Trump’s con.

Old habits die hard. But when you have a problem with what the guy above you on the org chart is doing, you go to the next level on the chart.

What’s above the President (or would-be President) on the org chart? That would be you and me and the rest of the citizenry, Don. And Powell knows that full well.

In the past two elections Powell has announced his endorsement in the fall on the Sunday Shows. I expect this year will be the same, and I look forward to his public rebuke of Trump.

I think Henry Kissinger is still the champ of image-protection. Henry Kissinger was Doctor Strangelove, but Powell looks like someone who has a constant war raging in his conscience. He hasn’t been able to say what I’ll bet he wishes he could say, and that’s been disastrous. Maybe he’s split by different, contradictory concepts of “duty.”

That’s a broad—and certainly correct—view of the relationship between government officials, the military, and the citizenry in a democracy, but I think it’s one that many career military don’t have uppermost in mind. It’s hardly uncommon for career military to have a fundamental contempt for civilians.

I think we’ll hear conservative dirt from Palin’s former running mate when he finally loses his Senate seat. Maybe (probably) not this cycle, but it will happen…

He’s not HO level vindictive, but he was the previous high-water mark for cranky old politician vindictiveness.

SAD!

Oh, the bump would be much more than 3 points if he did that!

I don’t think the FSM does exit interviews.

Just sayin’…

I’d vote for him if he killed himself. [Just kidding.]

I think this article, assuming rest of the media bothers to actually pay attention, is going to be much, much worse for Trump…to the point that criticism by Powell will be quickly forgotten.

I am only about half way through it, and its just popping with serious questions begging to be dug into deeper. And is pretty damning with what it already exposes.
