Discussion: Lawrence O'Donnell Says He Can Now Walk Without A Cane

Discussion for article #224725

This is great news; good for him.

His and Rev Al’s shows are the only ones I really miss seeing on MSNBC.

Glad Lawrence is on the mend.

Isn’t that great? Now he can shuffle over to his nearest Koch brother and give him a hug.

Good news. I can relate, having recently undergone surgery and other therapies for orthopedic issues related to age and arthritis.

Lawrence upends the Sphinx’s riddle - “Which creature has one voice and yet becomes four-footed and two-footed and three-footed?” - by returning to being two-footed.

I like Lawrence. He does a good job and he is not afraid to call folks liars

When it comes to physical therapy the old adage “no pain, no gain” definitely applies. I’m pretty sure Lawrence would second that.

I can relate as well having gotten a total knee replacement two years ago. It takes us older folk a while to recover. Glad Lawrence is on the mend and back in the fray.

I miss Keith as well. I didn’t care for his ego but I did like the way he’d take ANYBODY to task when they screwed up.

I watch O’Donnell’s show when I can. Usually I like the Rachel Maddow and the Ed Show the best. Glad to see Lawrence has made a full recovery!

I miss Olbermann as well. Never held back on the wingnuts. He was very entertaining.

Hips, knees, shoulders, they all let you down in the end. Thank dog for modern orthopedic surgeons.

This is the cunning of the Kochs. They endow the arts, medicine, education, etc., with the the aim of making those who are beneficiaries of their “good works” a little bit grateful for their existence.

I hear you, sister.

Good to hear Mr. O’Donnell’s personal health is doing better. Unfortunately, why do billionaires need corporate branding of their philanthropy? How about the Kochs stop spening hundreds of millions fighting affordable healthcare, which in itself would almost be like a donation to healthcare.

I do have thanks for my surgeon. But I don’t for my advancing years. When I was in my 20’s I’d have bounced back within days if not hours. Recovery from total knee replacement has taken two years (I’m 65 now) of effort. But For Mr O’Donnell…he was in a car crash and likely has far more widely dispersed injuries than I did … by far.
May Lawrence recover quickly and completely.

That great news. I know personally that such an achievement does not come with out a lot of painful hard work. About two years ago, because of a blocked artery in my leg, I lost blood flow to my foot and within a few days, ended up losing part of my foot. I had to learn to walk all over again. I can tell you, that first day I walked across the room without help, then the day I could climb a few stairs, well, I felt like I had walked on the moon.

Walking is something we all take for granted, but when you can’t, suddenly you realize it’s the toughest thing in the world. Good for O’Donnell. I’m sure he still has a lot of work --and physical therapy-- ahead of him, but as the saying goes, the first steps are the hardest.
