When did TPM hire Ron Fournier as an editor?
And thereâs not one of those lazy-good-for-nothing members of Congress, that could do better than Obama. Those who have fought him tooth and nail on EVERYTHING heâs attempted. The LAZY-Democrats who have decided to side with the enemy and continue to say nothingâŚâSPINELESSâ. Any Democrat who sides with the Republicans in this should be removed from office, next election and replaced with a Democrat who has a SPINE.
Most of TPM stories are pro the GOP - and now we have unnamed sources whinging about the President. If they exist at all - these are the people in the worst ever congress ever who refuse to stand up and be counted when the GOP in congress change their minds because - black President.
This is one President who has done more, against the biggest odds, than any President for the past 70 years.
Congress critters are attempting - yet again - to lie their way out of being the cause of nothing being done for the vets, the unemployed, the immigrants, infrastructure and health care for the working poor in red states. They get their bff the SCOTUS to hate on women and legislate to support keeping them poor and pregnant.
AND TPM advances their cause.
Oh please. I think Obama âgetsâ Congress just fine.
I wouldnât attribute too much to that âstatementâ. Anonymous Democrats, no actual quote from them? Just a paragraph to further the writerâs point.
Itâs basically another version of âSome people are sayingâŚâ
Democrats and Republicans. Lawmakers in both parties complained that the White House â six years in â still doesnât get it when it comes to WORKING with Congress.
CONgress WORKING??? HAHAHAhahahahahahaha
Aah â you got me with the Onion post.
Remember that old saying about when you point at someone, thereâs three fingers pointing back at you? These are the crybabies that planned his failure at his inauguration.
And furthermore⌠Turkey? Considering Turkey has taken in over a million refugees, I wouldnât be rattling the cage of Turkey. But of course, an ignorant Republican pretending to champion a âChristianâ cause knows nothing about diplomacy.
This is a really bad article. The writer not only doesnât get what is going on here, he is trying to manufacture a bigger story that doesnât exist.
âSeveral Democratic lawmakers echoed McConnell but spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid alienating the president of their party.â
Notice that there is no actual statement given. Even on the condition of anonymity, he couldnât get an actual quote to use. So he just made up something to further his notion that Obama is just too incompetent to deal with Congress.
Now lets take a look at the actual quotes given from DemocratsâŚ
âYouâve got a core group of the House Republican caucus that has run on a platform of âno compromiseâ â if the presidentâs for it, theyâre against it,â said Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.
Doesnât sound too critical of the President. Actually, it sounds like he is criticizing the republicans.
Then we get this one, âRep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., criticized the White House strategy. âI try never to negotiate against myself, thatâs all I can tell you,â he said.â
Oddly enough, Guiterrez was meeting with Johnson and Obama on Friday, âto negotiate additional terms and avenues the president can useâ to make that happen with executive action.
Then we get this final quote from Gerry Connolly concerning an obscure issue regarding TurkeyâŚfrom MONTHS ago,
âThe State Department was missing in action,â Connolly said in an interview. âThey have to professionalize their operation.â
Anyone else seeing a little overreach problem going on here, too?
All the while missing the bigger pointâŚObama has sent in his request to Congress to deal with the border âcrisisâ. He has met with the leaders of the Central American countries to get them to support in the effort. And has already gotten Hondorous to pledge some help.
Meanwhile, the republicans in Congress havenât even scheduled a vote for an aid package. But they did have time to vote for a meaningless lawsuit.
âSeveral Democrats said Obama must contend with GOP animosity, but so did former President Bill Clinton, who was undeterred through two terms.â
Which brought us The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, The Commodities Futures Act and, oh yes, The Impeachment of Bill Clinton.
AP almost always finds a way to come down on the Republican side of every issue. They are totally biased against anything that is remotely progressive. It makes no sense at all for TPM to give them a platform here. But, Josh has never been a liberal Democrat and never will be, unless the Republican Party shifts so far to the right that ordinary conservative politics is liberal by comparison. Expecting TPM to be the Fox News of liberal side is foolish.
THANK YOU!!
Obama said it was a matter for Reid and McConnell to work out, an answer that left Democrats flabbergasted, according to participants in the meeting. Finally, more than a week later, Obama called McConnell to urge him to break the logjam and get ambassadors confirmed.
So apparerently only at the insistence of POTUS would these ambassadors be confirmed. Because everyone knows that Obama is the all-powerful Oz.
Itâs Reid and McConnellâs goddamn job to find a way to get these ambassadors confirmed. not the Presidentâs. Thatâs why Senators are sent to Congress. Thatâs THEIR job not his! If they canât do the job, they need to be replaced.
More importantly, he has tried that tact. He held dinners inviting various republican leaders over to talk. He has played golf with Boehner.
So its actually been proven that trying to be cordial is an absolute waste of time on these people.
I disagree with that to a certain extent. I agree that itâs good to know who the enemy is by reading articles like these. However, WE pretty much know who they are and whatâs going on. You wanna know who doesnât know what the real meaning behind AP hit jobs are?
Low info**/**no info Americans who read crap like this and believe itâs actual journalism. Because itâs the AP. So itâs âlegitâ reporting. WE can respond to this drivel all we want and we do. But AP drivel reaches a very wide audience who donât realize what it is theyâre reading.
what he said.
That the most ineffective and one of the most despised Congresses ever should be unhappy to with Obamaâs leadership does not come as a surprise and should, in fact, be worn by the President as a badge of honorâŚ
Thatâs the thing about anonymous sources â there is no way to verify them. And not actually quoting them avoids the comeback of âmy quotation was taken out of contextâ. I must agree that it is a shoddily written article, but presumably TPM pays for the AP feed so they might as well use it. Personally, I think theyâd do better dumping AP and subscribing to Reuters instead.
#Congress is broken!
Blaming the POTUS for the catastrophic dysfunction of Congress is breathtakingly naive at best and maliciously disingenuous at worst.
Congress is as useless as an appendix. The red state Democratic senators need to oppose the President on some issues but thatâs fine they need to get re-elected in order to retain the Senate. The Democratic red states Senators vote with the President on 90% of the issues.
I thought Obama was an evil tyrant who ruled in spite of Congress and in defiance of their legislative powers.
Now Obama is a weak quisling who provides no leadership to Congress and doesnât help them get anything done?*
I never know which Obama is in charge when.
*Must be an election yearâŚ
Obama deserves a lot of latitude given the circumstances - unprecedented obstruction from the Republicans, being the first black president, inheriting a shit sandwich of an economy and various foreign relations nightmares. He was dealt a tough hand, and heâs handled it OK.
But if you canât see his shortcomings, then youâre not helping to make this country better.
