Another proud moment brought to you by the NRA.

I see the breaking news and wonder if shootings are at schools where my son teaches, his wife teaches, my granddaughter teaches, or my two grandchildren go to high school. The new America.

Deputy Charles Moore says there is no confirmation of an actual person with a gun or any shooting.

This will surely disappoint the NRA. Gun manufacturer stock values climb, as do gun sales, after every massacre.

When does the school day start there?

Looks like a suspect arrested. No reports so far of anybody hurt.

Now report of at least one injured.

When I was 14, there were other students at my school I would have wanted to shoot if I had access to a gun. This is why in sane parts of the country we restrict that kind of access.

14 huh? Looks like one of those responsible gun owners left the gun safe open…

Great catch! Publicly traded gun companies have long been a dream. Only two of hundreds of gun manufacturers were traded publicly. This is changing.

Is there a good reason someone bringing a gun to school and shooting another person shouldn’t be put away for at least 20-30 years, followed by 20 days in the electric chair? There is waaaaay too little thinning of the herd these days.

Let’s hope that that poor innocent gun wasn’t damaged and will see days in the future when it’s used for it’s true purpose-killing and maiming.

The worst thing that occurred when I was in high school back in the 70’s was the occasional bomb scare. This was during the era of peak bombings by numerous domestic terrorist organizations. The Puerto Rican nationalists, Weather Underground etc. Most of the scares were probably crank callers but like many events caused by contagion.

I was in high school back then too. Nowadays my experiments with NI3 would probably get me on a watch list.

Of course there was the time a teacher’s car got blown up, but somehow it didn’t faze us much. (It happened about 3 in the morning, so property damage was believed to be the only intent. And low explosive, so very little damage except to the car.)

Turning a few sheep loose in the cafeteria was always good for a rise out of the administrators.

Back then I would bring my electronics kit consisting of a crystal radio or metal detector to science class. Usually the box had the wires and connectors hanging out of it. Nowadays there would be a full on clock boy freak out.
