Sorry potential Gov. But that stand makes you impeachable. You cannot serve if you are not willing to uphold the Constitution. Asshole.

Alienating the other 119 clerks who aren’t violating their oaths of office in the state where the seminal work of state political history is about the counties rather than the state government? Brilliant!

“I absolutely support her willingness to stand on her First Amendment
rights,” said GOP Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin on a
national conference call, according to The Courier-Journal. “Without any question I support her.”

Thereby saying it’s OK to not do the job she was elected to do and by extension this candidate would do the same I expect.

Betty’s Trump video is funny with a horrifying x pic of the Donald!

The GOP (Greedy Oligarch Party) just LOVES it some “American Taliban” version of Sharia Law.
They know the adherents are dolts and “convenient idiots” to be exploited for electoral gain, then dropped like a live grenade after the election is over.

+5 giggle phrase

Who doesn’t support her First Amendment rights? This isn’t about her right to speak her mind; it’s about her unwillingness to abide by the laws of the United States of America.

She can say whatever she wants…from her jail cell.

There’s a serious issue here that does’t seem to be getting the attention it deserves. Would Republicans say that this position is generalizable to all government services? Could an ambulance service or fire department legitimately refuse to respond to a 911 call from a gay married couple?

The SCOTUS clearly understands that agreeing with this woman would effectively invalidate all laws. See a law you don’t like? Just claim a religious exception.

Their Burwell v. Hobby Lobby decision took us perilously close to that already. At least they had the good sense to realize that we shouldn’t get any closer.

Rand Paul would say so, absolutely.

I don't know how Bevin has the time for this grandstanding, the lawn jockeys at the end of his driveway need a new paint job like right now.

Say Bevin wins the Guv office. Kentucky enacts a program of offering money for subsidized housing for low income citizens. Bevin invites poor citizens to apply for the subsidized monies, but stipulates as Guv he commands no married gay couples will be allowed to apply. He claims doing it is an exercise of his First Amendment rights. Seems he thinks that would be his prerogative.

I know that the couples who are suing her have said that they would rather have her pay large fines, but really, can this woman not see that her God is calling her to do jail time and preach her holier-than-thou line to the ladies in the KY prison system for a year!?! I suspect it will be more of a test of her faith than any fines she might be ordered to pay since her bigoted friends will just put up the money to keep her where she is, especially if they start up some online fundraising for her among the Evangelical crowd. The ladies in the KY prison system will probably teach her a few lessons about faith and judgement real quick.

She is a politician who has been corrupted by a warped, unfounded bias of her church rather than money, and she should not be allowed to continue in her office. If jailed, her assistant clerk could then issue licenses, but only fining her will not stop this insane woman from doing what she is doing. Let her be a prisoner of her conscience on this “heaven or hell” issue for herself, and do the time for doing the crime.

I assume he and the State would then be sued, both by KY State citizens and the ACLU. I would also assume such actions would garner the attention of the Justice Department, who might sue them as well.

I agree. The unfortunate fact is in endorsing Davis the GOP Guv nominee is endorsing the right of state office holders to ignore settled law, judicial mandates and court orders out of deference to their personal beliefs. A vegan school board president could dictate no meat was to be served in school cafeterias. The list of ridiculous scenarios is endless.

He’s nuts.

she might be able to get a job at the local strip club…Piglets … they may be dirty they may have snouts they may have more than two nipples … but they do smell like bacon…suuuuuueeeweeeeeee gonna have a good time at Piglets
