Why do elected Republicans spite their constituents so deeply if they’re not independently wealthy?

This has nothing to do with Obamacare but rather is an attack and demonization of the poor.

Obamacare is paid for almost entirely by the federal Government, therefore none of its costs affect Kentucky’s ability to pay for Medicaid. Obamacare remember is a federal program that expands the coverage of Medicaid but is not in and of itself Medicaid because it is not paid by the state. Rather, what Kentucky is trying to do is impose odious requirements that for many will be impossible to meet, these are the poorest of the poor in that they were covered by Medicaid before Obamacare, so that they can be kicked off Medicaid.

What Republicans do is demonize the poor by making them look lazy by imposing work odious work requirements that especially those on Medicaid cannot meet due to health reasons and that is why the court rejected the requirement. The only excuse for responding to the court’s decision by cutting dental and vision care is try and blame the courts for the Governor’s decision to give tax cuts to billionaires most of whom do not live in Kentucky at the expense of its peoples health.

This guy got elected largely because only 30% of Kentuckians could be bothered to vote in 2015. He remains one of the least popular governors in the country. He’s up for reelection next year, and while I do hold out hope that he won’t be reelected, I wish I felt a lot more confident about that. Trump is still very popular out in the counties and Bevin has clung tightly to him. But who knows how bad things will be by then.

One has to be a soulless bastard to advocate denying glasses to poor kids. Bevin fits that description perfectly.

Here’s what I don’t understand. Virtually all of the funding for Medicaid expansion is paid for by the Federal government - indeed states that haven’t expanded are shooting themselves - and their taxpayers in the foot. So why is keeping the status quo - as the judge’s ruling does - creating a fiscal crisis?

This is just more poor-bashing ans hostage taking. I really don’t understand why the people of KY put up with it.
