Hoover believed the crash was just a temporary blip. His policies were too little, too late. The Hawley Smoot Tariff actually made the depression worse.

A protectionist tariff? Sound familiar? Right out of the front page of the Trump program. Republicans are nothing if not persistent.

Looks like the Leader has chosen Baldur von Schirach to be his heir. Uday and Kusay will be pissed. If I were Kushner, I would get a food taster ASAP.

“Overhaul” is not correctly applied to this endeavor. Nothing will work better when they’ve completed their work, unlike an “engine overhaul,” for example. This is well and truly, the dismantlement of the federal government. Bannon’s behind this; use his more honest terminology.

It’s the attempt to Privatize EVERYTHING ! The only salvation is the 2018 Election for America !
Do you think Corporate America wants to pay their share of Social Security ?
Do you think Corporate America wants to pay their share of Medicare ?
Do you think Corporate America ( The Insurance Industry) doesn’t wants their hands on VA Benefits ?
Do you think World Corporations do not want to Privatize the Interstate Highway System ?
WAKE UP AMERICA !!

Did you see his list of qualifications for this position?

Neither did I.

First thing to do: Outsource all federal jobs to Russia.

THIS. When I first heard about this , my thought was "I was wondering when they were going to come up with a device to skim a few billion ". That’s how they roll.

You’re not the only one.

Jebus, what a joke. These people know bupkis about business. None of them would last a day in the corporate world, save all the Goldman sharks, who are all high up enough to have been accountability-free for many years and wouldn’t know a RACI matrix if it bit 'em. Kushner ran a money-losing vanity newspaper his daddy bought for him. The rumor in real estate circles is that he didn’t even really run the family business after daddy went to prison, that daddy did, from his cell.

Type out: {s}the word or phrase{/s} - except use “<” and “>” instead of “{” and “}” and you’ll see the word or phrase.

I knew an atty named phonetically sahl (the allegation was nothing more than fake news)but I think it was Soll. Thank you for the help.

Factually untrue. Hoover’s response to the Great Depression was ham-handed, petty, and did great harm to the economy—especially insisting on a balanced budget because of reduce revenue—basically an austerity budget that failed spectacularly.

'When the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck less than eight months after he took office, Hoover tried to combat the ensuing Great Depression in the United States with large-scale government public works projects such as the Hoover Dam, and calls on industry to keep wages high. He reluctantly approved the Smoot–Hawley Tariff of 1930, which sent foreign trade spiralling down. He believed it was essential to balance the budget despite falling tax revenue, so he raised the tax rates. The economy kept falling, and the unemployment rate rose to 25%, with heavy industry, mining, and wheat and cotton farming hit especially hard. This downward spiral, plus his support for prohibition policies that had lost favor, set the stage for Hoover’s overwhelming defeat in 1932 by Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt, who promised a New Deal. Most historians agree that Hoover’s defeat in the 1932 election was caused primarily by the downward economic spiral, although his strong support for prohibition was also significant."

This will have been covered in comments already. It just feels good to write.

I would like to title this venture “The Next Mess”.

(And it cracks me up to think of Jared, who seems to be acting as the defacto State Department suddenly getting yanked a new direction)

The string of Trump enterprise failures is extremely long and trails back over decades. Basically, trump started failing as soon as his daddy let go, and he’s never been in the black since. When he was nearly a billion in debt in the 1990s, the Russians (and a few Saudis) bailed him out. He’s been relying on Russian dough and money-laundering operations ever since.

The rest of his businesses are all losing money.

Loved how both Jared headlines were back to back on TPM this morning.

YAWN! Every government claims to do this, but only Al Gore and Obama accomplished very much, and it wasn’t by privatizing government services, but by careful pruning of unnecessary positions.
