Discussion: King Erupts At Questioner Who Presses Him On Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooter

I wonder what his internal polling is showing…

That is a pretty standard far right white supremacist Christian position. They believe in the “end times” “rapture” blasphemy that postulates Christ’s return begins with the destruction of Israel. Anything to kick off the final war with the Muslims is great, so they are happy to support an expansionist Israel unwilling to seek peace. Of course, they don’t have a clue as to how they reconcile the notion that they can actually manipulate God with anything approaching worship of an almighty being. I am pretty sure if there is a God, God moves according to his own timeline.

The people of Iowa deserve a lot better than a career politician on a social engineering mission.

Whatever happened to Republicans term-limiting themselves?

can’t wait for King Gone

Why, Steve King supports Israel so much he wishes every Jew would live there!

I’ll bet you ten internet cocktails that this is actually true, and he might even say it out loud.

Perfect description of King!

So if you know a local leader who’s drunk on what little power he or she has, you might call that person imp___ious (bossy, commanding, and stuck-up), or dic_____ial (extremely bossy or extremely controlling), or simply a gauleiter.

At least he didn’t call the questioner an enemy of the people. By current GOP standards that must have taken considerable restraint on his behalf.

I love King’s “We don’t behave like that in our country.”

Sure we do, it’s called “peaceful protest” and holding our leaders accountable for their inflammatory rhetoric.

“Smart move, King…” - so true.

Memo to King campaign:

“Objects in your rear view mirror are closer than they appear”

Who was the questioner? I wonder if he worked for the newspaper that, in endorsing his opponent, wrote “In his almost 16 years in Congress, King has passed exactly one bill as primary sponsor, redesignating a post office. He won’t debate his opponent and rarely holds public town halls. Instead, he spends his time meeting with fascist leaders in Europe and retweeting neo-Nazis.”?

That newspaper, by the way, was the Des Moines Register.

I have to ask what someone already said. Where does King get off telling someone to leave? If the Des Moines Register sponsored this and let him dictate like this, this is crap.

The moderator appears to have kept King there, but if he had left, it would have been more telling.

No matter what, headline tomorrow needs to be

KING CAN’T STAND TOUGH QUESTIONS

I listened to some of the rest of this, and listening to King try to explain his meeting with right wingers in Europe and had a picture of him with a shovel digging deeper and deeper trying to explain away his history. I did nothing wrong and they are only slightly tied to the far right.

Fuckin’ Nazi

It wasn’t even that tough of a question. He could have just condemned the shooting as the act of an evil lunatic, claimed that King himself is not an evil lunatic, and NO ONE would ever have watched this clip. He could even have followed up with his support for Israel and Jewish people in general, and said that he abhors political violence. All without saying anything anti-gun, mentioning the killer’s anti-immigrant views, and without saying anything that would disappoint rank and file Republicans. Would have been OK. Reacting as he did maximized the attention the question received.

@salmonofdoubt @tiowally I was curious too.

According to the article below the questioner wasn’t a reporter. His name is Kaleb Van Fosson and is a member of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement. They were holding a protest outside and he managed to get a seat and ask a question.

What a chickenshit. Too afraid to own his own ideology. Maybe because he knows deep down that he’s evil and wrong?
