Discussion: Kim Davis' Lawyers: The Altered Marriage Licenses Are Valid

Discussion for article #241720

I don’t believe Kentucky’s highest elected officials has the final say as to the validity of the marriage licenses. Also, I don’t believe Davis’ lawyer has any say as to the validity of the marriage licenses. it still remains the Clerk’s job to sign and issue marriage licenses. That has not changed.

It’s past time to end the irritation of these pissants!

Davis’ lawyers have been ruled wrong so many times, why should any credence be given to their opinion on this?

So, does every pissant clerk in Kintucky have the authority to alter state documents at their whim? Speaking of pissants, is that Junior Kim standing so reverently behind momma?

Didn’t they originally claim the licenses weren’t valid because her name wasn’t on them? I seem to remember them bragging about it as a way of getting around the rulings. And now they’re saying the exact opposite?

No shit, Sherlock. Your original claim was so ludicrous that now you are taken the same way. Ludicrous.

Well, there’s an unsurprising 180-degree pivot from bad lawyers whose previous statements that the licenses were invalid were proof-positive that her behavior was “interfering” with them, as was explicitly prohibited by a court order. Didn’t they initially question the licenses’ validity?

Reality: the fact that her behavior even raised the question in the first place is, by definition, “interference.” These people were entitled to licenses that were valid on their face and identical to the other licenses issued throughout the state. They were not merely entitled to “a license that we claim is valid even though it is different and something something other officials who aren’t the courts say it’s ok even though it all violates the clear mandate of the state’s statutes that the licenses be uniform and meet certain requirements throughout the state.” They received something less than that to which they were entitled and Kim Davis belongs in jail as a result. Period.

This kind of disingenuous bullshit is just going to piss the judge off even more.

JAIL KIM DAVIS.

I am so very sick of seeing this useless broad. It’s way past time for her to go away.

So if those licenses are valid, what exactly has Ms. Davis accomplished? Yes, her name is no longer on the license, but same sex couples are still being married by her office. Does she really think God will let her off the hook on this technicality? Wouldn’t he still bring damnation down on Rowan county? Just trying to understand her reasoning here.

No shit? Wow, who would have expected her paid lawyer to say that.

In other news, Ted Cruz’s mom says he’s a genius.

Sounds like someone is getting nervous. Kim’s legal counsel were very vocal in their assessment that the licenses were not legal a few weeks ago. Now they are doing the mighty “walk back”. Sounds like Kim is starting to realize she is not as powerful as she once believed.

Why don’t they let her write business contracts while she’s at it, or state contracts?

Tampering with public documents (including altering them) is a felony in Kentucky

I like her choice of colors. She looks very good in County Jail orange.

You can stop reading after you see the words “Lawyers for Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis say…” because nobody would take it seriously if those jackoffs filed a brief arguing the sky was up.

They speak for God. Confidentiality rules prohibit the lawyers from disclosing anything except those things about which God has waived confidentiality. God has told his lawyers to announce the certificates are valid apparently. This us all you need to know.

So now Davis’s lawyers are saying they are valid and Davis in effect caved?

Huh?
