Perhaps not as important for the whip count, but the Governor of Wyoming just tore the Senate bill a new one. Whereās Liz Cheney on this? Actually, I really donāt care.
Is Heller vulnerable that he needs political cover? Or just nutless.
Translation: Gov Sandoval is hosed. It will take a small amy of lawyers, health care and policy experts to figure how badly Nevada gets hosed
Kabuki theater.
Or maybe āPunch-n-Judy Theaterā where all the actors get beaten up because the puppetmasters are children.
I canāt speak for any GOP governor but I always get wary when I understand thousands of innocent people will die needlessly if bullshit tax cut legislation is rimmed through Congress without being properly vetted.
Heller is caught between a rock and a hard place. If he votes no, he gets primaried and ends up in a weaker position for the general. If he votes yes he will undoubtedly lose in the general. My guess is he is looking at a post-Senate career and what is being offered. Maybe Steve Wynn hires him or Heritage or one of the Kochās superpacs. I think that is what determines his decision.
Heller isnāt the only governor who will get caught in the fallout if this passes. Susanna Martinez Ā® New Mexico, will get creamed and i hope so.
Why doesnāt Sandoval, at the very least, withhold his support until the CBO has a chance to rate the new bill? No doubt itās going to be bad, and that would give him and Heller cover.
Isnāt she term limited? But thatās also Kasich who really wants to have a career after his term is up next year.
Someone said this morning that the reason there are only two hard no votes right now is because several senators want to use the CBO score as cover to vote against it and McConnell asked them to give him the weekend before they announced their vote. As several have pointed out in recent weeks, the best that could happen for the GOP is to vote on it and have it fail, and to do it sooner than later.
Martinez of NM canāt run again for Governor.
I suspect that Senators are reluctant to be the third one to oppose Trumpcare. Once someone (McCain?) takes that role, others will follow.
āWhatās difficult is thereās a lot of dispute about the veracity of those numbers."
Baloney, governor.
Heās paving the way to āreluctantā support.
All āmoderatesā cave, as Josh says.
I am sickened that no republican senators have a spine. Collins has the most spine ( on this issue) , Paul is just a freaking crank. The rest of themā¦ should get a giant boil on their fannies. Their health care will cover it, but it will hurt like heck when getting lanced .
That was the nicest sort of mean thing Iāve ever read ; )
This plan sucks green eggs. If you donāt just come out and admit it or recognize it outright then you just make yourself look stupid.
*Hot news alert; I just got a flash that the vote has been delayed because of the McCain Problem.
She only has a little over a year left, thankfully!
Sandoval understands that Oācare repeal will mean having Nevada saddled with the health care bills of Sheldon Adelsonās minimum-wage employees. And strippers and prostitutes - as private contractors - may be getting their primary care at the emergency room, too.
you do not have to be very bright to understand this bill has nothing to offer health care but is in reality only a way to cut taxes for the rich which BTW will seem like nothing when the real tax cut is pushed.
that is the real issue.
they are not debating if people can get health care they can not with this bill.
they are only debating if they can survive the fallout.
period.
The fact that none of the so called āmoderatesā have come out one way or the other makes them complete losers in my mind. To be an elected official, and to have your constituents allow mealy mushy positions on something so importantā¦ speaks volumes. Not sure what it saysā¦ but it aināt good.
We have a rep in Maine ( Bruce Peloquin) who adopts no position on anythingā¦ until he votes for it. The most weasel-worm you have ever seen. And the rubes in his district, who depend a lot on medicare, medicaid, ACA, ā¦ elected him again.
Politicians arenāt the most credible or ethical people around.
The test of honor and integrity is too much for most of them, just like the test of money and friendship, many fail at that crossroads as well.
We have our own variety of weasel politicians here in Colorado and they slink away from public scrutiny.
Cory Gardener is a rubber stamp to this administration and if he has a backbone, its in storage some place.
