Oh, so you’re admitting that stalling those voters registration. Nice to know.
Anybody who uses overlooked Clash songs to comment on corrupt figures of authority in 2018 is a friend for life. Since you got the best one, here’s the next best.
Step down? For attempting to disenfranchise a group of people, most of whom are likely to vote against you? For violating your oath of office?
Actual question: is this constitutional tort territory? He would be personally liable for that, wouldn’t he?
Of course he won’t, why would he!? GOP voters do not care!
The only question I have left is why there is not an ad running today to mobilize black voters that says ‘Kemp is blocking the voting of American Americans’ followed by his soundbite of ‘outside agitators’ juxtapose to old soundbites of 60s segregationists yelling ‘outside agitators’?
(oh yea, because the Dems don’t have the spine to run that ad)
Even in the worst third-world banana republics, the candidates at least pretend not to be the same person running and rigging the elections.
Somebody seems scared.
That’s OK, because in less than a month, we will elect the first African-American woman as governor of this state… and you’ll be unemployed.
If it were any other state but Georgia that might be possible, unfortunately, it is Georgia.
Kemps also sending out false mailers about his opponent (and other GOP fuckery):
It’s ridiculous that he lacks the good judgment to step down because of an inherent conflict of interest. His actions merely prove how actual and obvious the conflict.
Yeah ‘ridiculous’. These white nationalists are able to do whatever the fk they WANT and we are supposed to just suck it up.
Lying sack of crap says “what”? Man up, Kemp, and admit to what you are doing, you coward.
Saw the Clash a few times, and years later while we were watching a clip of their show at the US Festival on youtube, my spouse spotted me in the crowd up front.
Caught a documentary on Richard Pryor, his routine on police treatment of blacks could have been performed last night…
Americans have fought and died to obtain and maintain the right to vote. Of the people, by the people, and for the people, motherfuckers!
Denying that right needs to come with much bigger penalties than we currently have in the books.
Democrats need to push for cracking down on this.
What is the downside? Being accused of ensuring the voting birthright of all Americans?
I’ll take that.
How will this election be able to be looked at as anything but invalid at this point- if he wins?
Republicans rig elections, because they can’t win fairly.
They can be beaten. They are weaker than the noise they make.
Oh give it time - in Georgia we’re used to total bullshit swarms such as “Don’t forget to vote on Thursday [after the election]” and various lightly veiled threats of felony imprisonment to scare aware the brown skinned.
No what’s ridiculous is that this is the fourth instance of Kemp mismanaging voter rolls and systems.
MSNBC via Rachel Maddow had this:
There was the time the Georgia secretary of state’s web site said there were 276 registered voters in a precinct… and then 670 ballots were cast in that precinct.
There was the time Georgia secretary of state Brian Kemp sent armed agents to arrest local African-American get-out-the-vote workers. None of the charges held up.
There was the time Brian Kemp declined federal help to secure Georgia’s election system because he said warnings of Russian hacking was a scam. Then Georgia showed up in Robert Mueller’s indictment of Russian hackers.
And there’s the ongoing hold Georgia secretary of state (and Republican candidate for governor) Brian Kemp has placed on 53,000 new voter registrations.
