Discussion: Kelly's West Wing Clout Diminishes As Trump Rebels Against His Restrictions

So now it’s a dead horse race between Kelly and Pruitt?

Rebel Trump …

Who knew that ousting aides and issuing surprise policy announcements on Twitter would be equated to governing at breakneck pace, or to governing at any pace.

“Kelly’s allies maintain that his retreat is strategic.”

“But those close to the president say Trump has increasingly expressed fatigue at Kelly’s attempts to shackle him…”

Just thinking to myself here … but in a properly functioning White House, shouldn’t the Chief of Staff’s and the President’s allies and people close to them kind of overlap rather than be competing armies?

It’s NOT a retreat. Kelly is just advancing in a different direction.

ahem:

Trump recently told one confidant that he was “tired of being told no” by Kelly and has instead chosen to simply not tell Kelly things at all, according to a person who was not authorized to publicly discuss private conversations and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Behavior of a twelve year old trying to sneak out via the bedroom behavior type antics attributed to the POTUS. Heaven help up.

Meanwhile - the “Trump unrestrained” doesn’t appear to be working well for the party:

(the thread following the tweet is pretty funny, and, when remembering we are talking about the POTUS, very sad.)

on editing - another example of a reinless Trump bumbling due to his impulses:

Well, when one side constantly orders the Light Brigade to charge, it can be hard for everyone to get on board. I’m not sure why that is.

Old generals never die…they are just reduced to a pile of steaming shit in the New World Order.

Kellys practice is chaos theory. Let it hit rock bottom…that is if we all live that long or have anything left when it does…

As the old saying goes, “Give a man enough rope…” Trump is going to hang himself, he needs no help from Kelly.

Personally, I’m not sympathetic to Kelly’s feelings at being cast aside. Kelly’s pride alone (not facts or behavior in evidence) allowed him to think he would have a major, positive impact on Trump. I am worried, however, about what will happen to the rest of us from an unhinged Trump.

… trying to avoid the knife aimed at his back.

That’s the image for my happy place - Donald Trump in shackles and an orange jumpsuit.

In recent weeks, Trump has governed at breakneck pace,

That’s a joke, right? Governed? He’s been doing something at a breakneck pace, but surely, whatever it is can’t be referred to as governing.

The president also has cast aside the constraints the retired four-star Marine general tried to place on Trump about whom he could see and speak to. Those restrictions led shunned advisers to try to undermine the chief of staff in the press and with Trump.

Between that statement and Josh’s post on how Pruitt got caught because Porter revenge-leaked about his misdeeds, we’re being shown yet again that the country is currently run by thugs and trash.

If Kelly’s clout is diminished what’s up with the border/immigration flameup? Stopping the brown people at any cost is Kelly’s main thing. Did the need to put tanks at the border appear in dotard’s head simply because FOXS told him he didn’t get funding for his wall? I think Kelly’s in there in some way, and wouldn’t put him on the same square as Pruitt.

Whatever works for you, but I would find any happy place that includes Trump (in any capacity) to be a pretty dismal happy place.
