Discussion: Kasich 'Can't Guarantee' Ohioans Won't Lose Insurance After ACA Repeal

Have fun dealing with that fallout, asshole. You’re long overdue for it

But he’s term limited

“I can’t guarantee anything. I’m down here trying to do my best to make sure we have a good plan,” he said before saying he was done talking

Contestant : "gimme ‘not so loud’ for 400, please "

That’s a big part of all this. It’s the Red state governors who grudgingly decided to accept the ACA (or some version) that are going to get absolutely hammered. I believe that the Blue state governors will do what they can to mitigate the damage. The others are pretty much screwed because no help will be forth coming from DC.

“Right now we cover people up to 138 percent of poverty. I think we ought to cover them up to 100. Let those above 100 go on the exchange,” Kasich said. “We can look at the benefits package the administration passed is just very expensive and it’s kept people who are younger from buying insurance. It’s another thing that can be looked at. That benefit package is, frankly, too rich.”

Kasich is a monster.

ETA: and for eff’s sake, let’s not raise the minimum wage, and let’s continue to give less money to public schools, especially in the inner-city and rural districts.

It’s the republican death by just a few essential cuts.

My millennial daughter told me about a conversation she overheard about a group of kids her age (all who were probably still under 26 and carried on their parent’s health insurance) talking about how great it will be to get rid of “Obamacare”, given how terrible it was. She joined the conversation only to find that they were convinced they would still have health insurance, even after Trump, under the Affordable Care Act. When she explained that Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were one in the same, she said you could hear a pin drop…

I weep for the future of this country…

It can get better for them if they wise up.

Too late for those that will get screwed now. And, like, ya know, die.

Exactly - 90,000 Detroit voters filled out otherwise-complete ballots, but somehow didn’t vote for the top of the ticket - yeah, nothing funky about that. If anything, you would expect the exact opposite result (vote for Pres., then scoot). Not to mention Cross-Check - and a whole lot of other strange phenomena in the battlegrounds…

Thank you! I appreciate your follow up so much.

Greg Palast is running his film about how the election was stolen on facebook tonight, according to the email he sent out. On his FB page, I believe.

Haha! This is really good!

This new circus in town is better - it practises cruelty against humans, not just animals.

And most of the red states economies are already in the red (pardon the pun!). The blue states tend to fare better economically. Get a clue, morons!

Remember how vindictive Trump is? Sorry Ohioans, you’re well and truly fucked.

I sent our Republican senator an email asking him if he would require that any replacement plan for the ACA must provide all the benefits that president elect Trump has promised to the American people. Haven’t heard back yet.

Kasich is a rich, white, male, Xtian, conservative Republican. The laws of social Darwinism demand that he is entitled to a healthcare plan that is the best of the best and that the lesser forms of life should pay for it.

The ACA anticipated that all states would expand Medicaid to cover up to 138% of the FPL, which is why the ACA subsidies don’t cover people who fall within the 100-138% FPL donut hole. I’m sure the GOP would pass the necessary ACA amendment to avoid extending that problem to include all the affected people in states that expanded Medicaid.

Plus, what in the world is he talking about? At poverty level the exchange subsidies would be massive:. More than Medicaid.

John Kasich Gets All The Credit For Ohio’s Failed Obamacare Medicaid Expansion

Kasich’s Obamacare expansion has enrolled more able-bodied adults than the state thought would ever sign up. This enrollment explosion has resulted in $2.7 billion of budget overruns in just the first two years of the program. The overruns have left lawmakers scrambling, as the state’s share of costs come due in the current biennium budget. Overruns also mean less funding for important budget priorities like public safety, education and the truly needy.

The budget overruns couldn’t possibly have anything to do with tax cuts, could it?

Nope. Republicans have made it very clear that deficits only result from excesses on the spending side of the equation. Shortages on the revenue side have absolutely no effect.
