You have to watch the clips with Kanye nattering on and Trump sitting there stolidly, stonefaced, because there are about two dozen photographers and TV cameras there catching every moment and he’s slowly realizing this wasn’t actually a good idea and just makes him look ridiculous with his base, who are not huge Kanye fans.

I think he realizes, from long and abundant experience, when he’s just made a serious fool out of himself. He’s pretty aware and protective of his self-image, and familiar with narcissistic injury. He had a blank, numb look on his face like a guy whose fully loaded pickup had just slid down a slippery boat ramp and into the salt water.
