Well there is the matter of why you didn’t prosecute Steve Mnuchin after illegally foreclosing on thousands of homes, after he contributed to your campaign. There will be lots of questions about it surely, hey why not blame it all on racism and misogyny? Yeah that’s the ticket, what this country needs more of are politicians who take money from the wealthy and powerful and accede to their needs. Not enough of that going around! What’s important here is that she has a vagina, and that she’s black. Go Dems! Maybe there’s another Heritage Foundation policy she make policy!
And that’s really the reason I don’t want her to run in 2020. (Personally, I think she should wait until at least 2024.) One of the biggest disappointments of 2016 is realizing that the allies that the Democratic base thought we had ended up not being there when push came to shove.
53% of white women voted for Trump, so no, they would not have her back.
In some ways, those two demographics are the exact same.
@rintintin Unfortunately, our segment of the Dem base wouldn’t be enough to put her over the finish line.
Is she talking about the GOP or the Democratic primaries? I have a feeling the primaries are going to be gruesome - like sharks in the water. We haven’t had a real slugfest of a primary in a while. Bernie v. Hillary wasn’t too bad since it was 1 on 1. Wait until we got a whacked out battle royale like the GOP had in 2015.
Well He was King of the Globalists…
I am with her.
I can’t think of a better way to ensure Donnie’s second term than for Democrats to run another obviously corrupt career politician based only on her gender and skin color. Please proceed Dems.
The zeitgeist is totally different this time around: people are really hungry–no, starving–for change from trump and republican rule. Harris is also a very different candidate than HRC. We need to be the idealistic, positive party, not the party afraid to run its best.
I used to be a huge fan of Kamala Harris, but I would have a difficult time supporting her, after she was in the spearhead of the campaign to force out Al Franken. Those allegations, numerous as they are, are pretty fishy. Some of them seem like not much more than a difference in perception about personal space and how comfortable people are with personal contact. I would vote for her in a general election, but likely not in the primary. For someone who was California’s attorney general, I expected more than what we got, which was a rush to judgement.
No, it’s not an issue of “people” it’s an issue of “the Democratic base” wanting a change from Rump. She might be able to clear the Primary and go the way of Mondale in the General. POTUS is elected with the votes of Americans, some of whom just aren’t ready for a strong Black woman. HRC was a good candidate who was the victim of a confluence of events in 2016.
Indeed look what they did to Michelle who bent over backwards to avoid controversy
Black, Check
Woman, Check
Intelligent, Check
Outspoken, Check
The racists will crank it up to 11
She appears to be incredibly tough. She must have gotten so much flack over the years for being too aggressive & confrontational (that is how women are treated). But she stands firm!
I have nothing but admiration & respect for her. Go Kamala!
The collective right wing anal clenching would be epic to witness. Not to mention the presidential debate.
“Let’s be honest. It’s going to be ugly,” Harris continued. “When you break things, it is painful. And you get cut. And you bleed.”
Christ Almighty, is she channeling Hillary? She left out ‘concerned’. Identity Politics next?
She slept with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin when he was the Foreclosure King in CA. Start there before whining about ‘not fair’.
Respectfully -
U haven’t been paying close enough attention, Bill.
I don’t understand the value of making this statement. Is the purpose to gain sympathy by stating some obvious hard truth? I think it devalues the power inherent in being a black female candidate by giving ammo to the other side that you are using your gender and race to gain votes. Every time you use that statement, you look weaker.
Why not use this time to attack Trump and the administration? There is plenty of meat on that bone. Go pick a fight from a position of strength that matters to your perceived voter base. I just think it is bad timing. This is a March 2019 statement, not a December 2018 one.
- “Brown/Harris/Brown”
Seriously at this early date I know just a few scraps about most of the potential candidates who haven’t run before. She and Schiff were prosecutors, that’s cool for the 2020 campaign, isn’t it. She has a “give me a break” facial expression that’s worth national office in these degraded times as well. She looks like a mom who wants to hear zero more excuses about why you haven’t picked up your room. Against people like, say, Kavanaugh, it’s deadly. And she seems to have a deep inner dignity. Very attractive. On the basis of style things I like her a lot. Interesting biography. Generally with the nice deep bench we seem to have I’m eager to see the sorting begin.
Sadly, it is also an issue of voting power. The white women in my state - CA - did not vote for Cheetolini. But we have a much smaller voice.
