Release the NRA slush fund, lot’s of pliable Repugs politicians out there out there…

Making existing bump stocks much more valuable is an unintended consequence of this proposal. Look for a manufacturing surge and higher retail prices from now until the law goes into effect. Just like high capacity magazines during the assault weapon ban some years ago. In a more perfect NRA world everyone would carry an Uzi machine pistol. This rule will never become law unless politicians are willing to go against a kicking and screaming NRA gun lobby.

Note that they are doing nothing about the much deadlier Gat-cranks.

Whether this can be accomplished by regulations, or requires a statute, is an open question. Still, it’s worth trying the regulatory route because Congress may not have the cojones to do it. Let the courts deal with it.

Countdown to litigation in 3, 2, 1…

And the previous set of lawyers likely did a thorough job of research and reasoning for why they couldn’t regulate, as opposed to the rushed version here.

The trump administration has now taken more action to ban assault weapons and their components in one year than Obama did in eight. Yet the far right supports trump because Obama was a “gun grabber”?

youtube has loads of videos showing how to make your own. The underlying technology is pretty basic and the necessary parts are cheap and readily available.

Everyone in the gun world knows this.

But, but, but… how do they expect me to hunt grouse without a bump stock?! And how will I be able to take on the imaginary masked marauder standing at the foot of my bed at 2:00 am without one?!!

Let’s not forget the additional 422 people who were shot and wounded in Las Vegas. 422.
