I would argue that what Kavanaugh said in private is a much greater indicator of who he is and what he believes.

Yes, but you’re not Grandpa Grassley.

Man, do I miss Harkin. Iowa, what have you done?

Which Dems are most likely to vote to confirm? Off hand I’d say three, Donnelly, Heitkamp, and def Manchin but could be more.

Women dressed as characters from “The Handmaid’s Tale” stood in silent demonstration before Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings began at the Capitol.

Judge Kavanaugh introduced his family — including his wife, his parents, an aunt and uncle and cousins.

Aww, how sweet.

You fundamentally misunderstand what makes a US citizen.

The parents citizenship is wholly immaterial.
All that is required is that the birth occur on US soil, which includes military bases, territories, and other land controlled by the US.

The only time the parents’ citizenship matters is for overseas births—the child of US citizens is a US citizen regardless of birthplace.

Now shut up and stop trying to hijack the thread.

Actually McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, an unincorporated territory of the United States.

you need to be … re-born —

hopefully you won’t get dropped on your head this time —

There is one chance of stopping this, a very long shot: if Democrats can elicit false testimony from Kavanaugh. Not saying that will be enough to stop the confirmation, but it would be highly unusual for a Supreme Court Justice to accept the office as demonstrable perjurer.

The problem is that it’s difficult to crack open someone like Kavanaugh on cross-examination. It requires skilled, painstaking, methodical, aggressive, detail- and document-oriented questioning. It would require the Dems to coordinate their questioning and forgo the opportunity to make camera-friendly grand opening statements. The one senator who had these skills was Al Franken. Someone else will have to step up.

Suggestion: closely question Kavanaugh about his absurd statement, on accepting Trump’s nomination, that nobody had consulted more widely with more people than Trump. That’s obviously not true.

It’s a sham. A handful of dems are likely going to vote to confirm him, so there isn’t even enough party discipline to mount a respectable defense.

So, you ask, who is Bill Burck? A triply-conflicted holder of most of Kavanaugh’s documentation, that should be made available and be read by all Senators before this hearing was ever held. This entire charade is a disgrace.

ETA: He also helped and represented Steve Bannon and Rinse Pubis in preparation to go before Congress on the Russia probe. He also represented Doug McGahn. This man holds 100,000 pages of documents on Kavanaugh the White House is claiming this committee can’t see in evaluating this nominee.
