Discussion: Judiciary Dem On Pelosi 'Prison' Remark: 'I Don't Have Any Difficulty With Those Words'

I’d run just that day and night as a campaign ad. Put Mueller’s exact words up in quotes. Maybe narrate them. Close it with “I’m (democratic candidate) and I approve this message” I think every single Dem candidate should run the exact same ad too… Starting today.

What is your dirt doing in my yard, Trump?

I don’t know, boss…

other countries have tried, convicted and imprisoned their former leaders; surely, the most awesome democracy ever could see fit to do the same.

I don’t have problem with it either - we’ve all said it. I do have a problem at this point if that’s what she’s holding out for instead of letting Nadler go forward with impeachment.

I think it’s time to impeach him.

A few more than just that one…

“Pelosi reportedly telling fellow Democrats “I don’t to see [Trump] impeached”

“Look, I don’t have a difficult with these words,” the congressman said.

“African market president”

All in just four paragraphs? Must’ve been a wild Saturday night!

I have difficulty with those words because they ring of the over-weaning confidence that gave us Trump in the first place. Translated, they mean “we’ll elect Biden and then we’ll put Trump in prison.” But what if Biden fails to win an eminently winnable election, like all anointed dems before him? Think about the difference between Kennedy, Carter, W. Clinton, Obama, vs Mondale, H Clinton, Johnson, Humphrey, Kerry et al.

Whenever the dems choose a safe mainstream candidate, they lose. When a maverick overwhelms their stolidity, they win. They’ve taken exactly the wrong lesson from the McGovern campaign, which was really an echo of Bobby Kennedy, who would have won.

So what if they run Biden and Biden loses?? What will all those beefy guys in black pickup trucks with skull logos do then?

I really think the dems should do their constitutional duty and run Trump and all the Trumpists through as much of the impeachment process as they can. Get all those rotten people out in front of congressional committees, day in, day out. Even if it fails, at least history will have been served. It’s D Day, people, not sail around in the Channel hoping opinion polls shift day.

Finally! We are beginning to hear the unvarnished truth in the public square. No more weasel words, no more mincing around what he is and what should happen to him. He’s a liar. Call it by it’s proper name. He belongs behind bars. Say it. Jesus, it’s been a long time coming.

Funny, I don’t have a difficult either.

Yes, I know it’s a typo.

I see it’s a slow news day, when everyone’s just hopping on the typo train…

Fixed.

Trump is as guilty as he ever was. We don’t need to pretend otherwise.

Absolutely! Force Republicans to defend him in spite of all of the evidence against him. Force them to defend themselves!

What’d the military do to you to make you want to punish them like that?

Well, duh, what could be the objection to Pelosi’s sentiment, since Trump has no qualms placing/seeing young children in prison cell-like environments.

Half the frickin’ GOP took up the “Lock Her Up!” chant… Most of his original cabinet also participated in and/or encouraged that claptrap.

And now, ONE House Speaker says on ONE occasion (PRIVATELY!) that she wants Trump in prison, and they go and have a public fucking meltdown.

Let me say it in a language those extra-dimwitted, Trump-loving ‘people of the book’ will understand:

Reap. Sow. Fuckers. Now, ya’ll just go suck on that.

If this is a cold, analytical process, hanging the criminal label on him in the mind of the public is a no brainer. Impeach, not to impeach? It doesn’t matter if you accomplish it. What matters is if you get him and his horde voted out of office. We need to remember that Trump can die today on his ceramic throne, but all the other players are still in place.

Starting the inquiries, grabbing the public’s attention and playing a better game at it than the Republicans is a solid opportunity. But being mamsy pamsy(?) about it just takes the wind out of the sails of that opportunity. The facts around any avenue in that inquiry are blatantly compelling. There is not contrivance needed. It is there in plain view. Pelosi should use it. No Democrat should shy away from this. If they do not understand this is no longer a process of diplomacy but a war for the future, they should not be in the process.

I want to see him impeached and then indicted, but just getting the orange rotundity out of that chair is major milestone regardless of how it is done. And job number one is to make sure every single person out there that does not have a MAGA hat collection is wrapped into it like they are watching a Game of Thrones season.

Impeachment inquiry now.

Indict, Convict, and Imprison later.

The first is necessary - unless there are big breakthroughs by the end of this month on the current investigations and access to documents, testimony, and media saturation (it would be nice to ruin his Independence Day plans).

The latter would be a bonus, in my opinion, if the first reveals what we all know/suspect.

That’s my goal too and why I was ok with Pelosi not wanting to get on with it but my feeling now is: Get on with it. Nadler has a good arguments for why we need to impeach him. We need to consolidate all these investigations into one so that the public isn’t confused.

That’s because TPM basically goes dark on the weekend. Slim pickings.
