Discussion: Judge Who Removed Foster Child From Gay Parents Reverses Order

Discussion for article #242811

So now the judge swings both ways, eh. Say no more, say no more, nudge nudge, wink wink.

Judge Johanson still has not stated what study he based his original opinion on (most likely the discredited Regnerus study that was paid for by NOM). I hope the legal team for the women provide the judge with the opinion out of Michigan which basically called the Regnerus study a large sack of fecal matter.

He must’ve seen the torchlight glinting off the pitchforks.

Maybe he misread the study about children raised by Duggars and thought it applied in this case…

What a shithead.

“place the child with a duly married, heterosexual couple.”

Was Johanson going to then go after unmarried couples and single parent families with children?

That would be the next step in his “logic.”

Soon Mike Huckabee just has to insert himself in this drama.

Why wasn’t the state DFCS asked for input before this judge made his initial ruling?

One would think that any judge involved in children’s welfare cases wouldn’t be discouraging any loving adults from becoming foster parents (and I love it that a little properly directed media attention caused such a quick change in his decision).

This is what the Michigan judge had to say:

Judge Friedman didn’t fall for any of it. “The Court finds Regnerus’s testimony entirely unbelievable and not worthy of serious consideration,”

I think the concern here is in the Judge’s claims to be using information that in fact does not exist. This man, acting as a Judge, made shit up to justify a bigoted act.

Yes. Whatever oversight board, etc., that exists in Utah needs to call him on it, reprimand him and put him on probation.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes to light that this judge is a member or even an elder of the LDS church.

This case and the Kim Davis Kentucky case are both perfect examples of why public officials need to be barred from interfering with lawful actions of citizens by interjecting their religious beliefs. Eventually, SCOTUS will have to make it clear that public officials are not rogue chieftans of their own little fiefdoms.

Since when is it a judge’s job to read psychological/sociological research, and use his interpretation of it to decide cases? I think this judge needs to curb his extracurricular reading, and get back to following the law.

So the Judge finally realized that “Enlightened Self-Interest” out weighs his Religious Beliefs.
I.E. Faith don’t pay the bills.
