I don’t see that these people have anything to complain about. Trump promised to teach them his secrets of how to become rich in real estate. As far as I can see he’s done that. The lesson may have been more expensive than it was worth because it’s fairly simple:
Never give a sucker an even break.
Definitely not worth $35,000, but there’s no denying that that’s Trump’s secret and they have learned it the hard way.
“He did not run Trump University. He was not the chief operating
officer. He did not direct the day-to-day affairs,” Petrocelli said.
“The idea that he is somehow at the center of it is not supported by the
evidence in the case.”
Considering the case is at least partly about Trump’s initial claims that he would be highly involved, are we sure Petrocelli isn’t working for the plaintiffs?
ETA:
Trump University’s sales pitches “are classic examples of sales puffery
common to advertising everywhere,” his lawyers said in court documents
filed for Friday’s hearing …
Holy crap! ALL of his lawyers are working for the plaintiffs. Otherwise, someone might want to tell them the difference between spending a couple of bucks on a soda that may or may not actually be the best tasting one, and defrauding someone out of $35K.
Well, they should have learned not to get snookered by con men selling get-rich-quick schemes. If they didn’t learn that, then, yeah, they missed the lesson.
“Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other.”

Exactly what I was thinking. Isn’t this latest filing basically destroying their arguments for defense if this case moves forward since the fraud charges are that they were claiming Trump was personally involved in choosing the people giving the classes, and that they were going to be his secrets of success?
If they are now arguing that he wasn’t involved in any of this, and just sold his name to the scam, they have blown up their only defense that they were not defrauding them.
Next: the Trump organization sues the management of Trump University for fraudulently using his name and representing that he was involved in the operation of the enterprise. The suit requests the return of the millions of dollars fraudulently paid to Trump by those managers.
One of the bloggers I read said there’s a 100% chance Trump sues Pence if they lose. LOL!!! From the pictures I’ve seen, looks like that’s dawning on Pence.
Trump’s attorney, Daniel Petrocelli… told the judge the plaintiffs have failed to show that Trump himself orchestrated allegedly misleading marketing claims.
“He did not run Trump University. He was not the chief operating officer. He did not direct the day-to-day affairs,” Petrocelli said. “The idea that he is somehow at the center of it is not supported by the evidence in the case.”
Yeah, I can’t imagine where anyone would have got the idea that Donald Trump, “Chairman, Trump University” had anything to do with the activities of Trump University…
Hillary and Tim will rub this in his nose gleefully.
The whole Trump U scam was either A) an outright scam and fraud or B) he only defrauded the perpetrators of the scam but not those scammed or C) he was selling a totally unworkable plan on the basis of his name being attached to it, so he’s a phony and a liar, AKA, a fraud.
The suspense is intense, which flavor of fraud is Trump exactly or is he several flavors? What prison will his truly crooked self go to?
Will he file for bankruptcy again and will it be allowed? Is Putin involved?
So many juicy questions and possibilities.
