Discussion: Judge Declares Mistrial In Bill Cosby Sexual Assault Case

I really don’t understand why all of this is going on, it happened over 30 years ago. And she continued to see him, and later got money in a settlement. C’mon, who could vote guilty on this?

quaaludes were cool back then, everybody was taking them. You drive over the speed limit sometimes don’t you, that’s a crime too.

Nope. All limited out. I want to know the split.

11-1 and I predict a plea and probation. 10-2 maybe same, high chance of conviction on retrial. Boxcars: they would normally drop the case. Really the only reason not to is how bitter people would be about the outcome. That’s not good enough.

Every honest person I know, several of whom are defense lawyers. Why do you ask?

It’s not. It’s an infraction. The analogy is farkakteh anyway.

Self-selected jurors: The got themselves on the jury with the intent of finding the defendant not guilty no matter what the objective evidence. “Jury nullification” maybe?. Eh, probably.

Ditto with OJ jury.
The whole bunch of them.

For years I thought him one of the kindest, most decent men on the planet.
60 women accused him. That’s not a conspiracy. He’s a creep. I have no sympathy for him.

I thought he was hilarious on his albums. But I never thought of him as nice. He had an aura of mean-spiritedness even in some of his routines. And although I Spy, which I seldom watched, was an ok show, I guess, when he got the clout to essentially run his own show, it was a smarmfest that showcased his smugness and self-regard. Sort of like Seinfeld, but with a ton of hypocrisy added and even less funny*. And his social commentary has always been as overbearing as it has been hypocritical.

.* (I know, most people think Seinfeld was funny. I found it mean, nasty, and about as funny as the plague. And his “observational” stage comedy made fun of ordinary people to a Ricklesian degree. cf, Ellen DeGeneris, whose observational comedy comes without the supercilious smirk.)

I’ve watched precious little of either show, but you comments sound spot on – at least based on the little I saw of either Cosby show or Seinfeld.
Just never gave it that much thought. I am impressed by people who make a lot of money and give a lot of money to good causes. I don’t care what their motives are. It’s a kind act.

Yeah, it’s a mitzvah. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t a paskudnyak, and it doesn’t make their TV shows any good.

I just like to vent about those shows from time to time.
