…anyone believe that?

Fuck you Jon Stewart. It was your “both sides do it” false equivalency that helped Republicans win in 2010, and your bashing of Democrats that helped Republicans win AGAIN! I’m through with you AND Bill Maher, both of you are politically stupid!

Yeah, pretty much. They’re funny guys who are kind of assholes, but they too often mistakenly think that being an asshole is what makes them funny, and so in their lazy unthinking moments fall back into that.
As if this is all a joke.

Y’know what, Jon?

Wasn’t very funny. That’s like, 4chan level trolling. When you’re worth over $80 million and you rake in $25 million a year on top of that, I guess it does seem funny to piss on people who crawl across broken glass and piss blood to exercise the right to vote.

Probably be a long while before I can watch you again without vomiting. Maybe after the 2016 election, when you don’t spend the entire year running up to it finding ways to throw shit at the Dems while ignoring the outright evil being perpetrated by the Republicans.

C’ya then. Maybe. If I can be bothered to remember you by then.

Oh, maybe. He probably spends 18 hours a day all year long thinking about politics, so that could have been meant as a joke, sure, ha ha, even I, Jon Stewart, am apathetic when the chips are down, satire on the human trait of self-absorbed indifference and so forth. But if it was a joke, it was maladroit and not that funny, and if he’s lying now, that’s just yucky. Not his best moments all around but it’s been a crummy couple of days generally.

This is how it kind of struck me. I clicked on this article’s headline for a bit of a pick-me-up and didn’t get one. But that’s how crappy days go.

I didn’t follow Jon Stewart around yesterday, so I don’t really know, but it’s hard to believe he could do what he does and honestly not care about politics. I remember when David Denby was saying the Wonkette people were mindless mockers who didn’t care about anything and Jim Newell, who was writing for them at the time, was absolutely enraged by that accusation, basically said the same thing, you can’t do it if you don’t care. At any rate, benefit of the doubt, all that. I’ll save most of my own ire for the non-hilarious Democrats who sat on their indifferent asses by the millions and watched this happen, the ones we know didn’t vote because whoops, the votes weren’t there when the counting got done.

A funny man groveling is fairly pathetic. He fucked up and that is the apology he should’ve made.
