John Yoo is a repulsive excuse for a human being; perhaps only tied with Dick Cheney for the designation “lowest of the low.” I doubt, however, that many in Donald Trump’s base even know who he is or could explain the irony in his lack of support for Trump.

Mengele didn’t offer advice. It was more like doctor’s orders than advice.

Whenever I find myself wishing that my patients treated my advice more like doctor’s orders, I cast a thought back on Dr. Mengele and that’s a useful corrective.

Because the current administration chose to look forward, not backward. Of course, a more careful look forward might have made it clear that not punishing war crimes normalizes the commission of war crimes into the indefinite future.

(AP) Chicago August 16, 2014 - Horrified visitors to Chicago’s Woodlawn cemetery were allegedly treated to the ghastly sight of the corpse of executed mass murderer John Wayne Gacy clawing its way out of the dirt Wednesday afternoon. Gacy’s corpse is reported to have climbed atop a nearby crypt to deliver a garbled, rambling speech attacking Donald Trump’s “demeaning statements” about clowns, and declared that the Republican candidate was “dead to me” but that he didn’t support Hillary Clinton and was casting an absentee vote for Gary Johnson. By the time authorities got to the site of the disturbance, however, all they found was the quickly decomposing remains with no signs of any recent revival. Police are attributing the reports to “extreme temperatures” and dehydration of cemetery visitors.

I don’t trust John Yoo any further than I can throw my apartment building across the parking lot – IOW, not at all. That said, hey, if even John Yoo can’t swallow Trump’s vagueness, lack of knowledge about any government and his near-certain destructiveness, you know Trump is really screwy and scary.

“Trump’s outbursts won’t persuade the Senate to embrace more conservative nominees, where Reagan’s sunny optimism and George H.W. Bush’s patrician decency failed,” Yoo wrote.

I have no idea what the hell Yoo means here – Reagan and GHWB got through Antonin Scalia (arguably the worst fucking justice we’ve seen in a century), Sandra Day O’Connor (a partisan hack if ever there was one) and Clarence Thomas a black mini-me Scalia. What, they ain’t conservative enough for you, Mr. Yoo? Why the heck do you hate America so much?

He had the job at Berkeley before his career in war crimes. He took a leave of absence to serve in the Justice Department from 2001 to 2003. When he left Justice, he just walked back into his professorship at Berkeley.
