I guess someone must have told Kasich that he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in Jim Inhofe’s armpit of ever winning the Republican primary, so he may as well say what he said, because he sure as hell isn’t going to be the nominee now!
Do you know if Kasich has said such things?
Methinks you are wrong. Kasich is not a friend of the unions (despite his upbringing), but he is not into fighting culture wars. He is not a Teavangelical, but an Episcopalian, who was raised Roman Catholic (I think he has a brother who is a priest); witness Jindal and Haley attacking him at a Koch conflabfor “hiding behind Jesus” when Kasich affirmed that expanding Medicaid is a Gospel obligation, and he succinctly rebutting them.
There are many reasons to dislike John Kasich’s politics, but to accuse him of lying about respecting the SCOTUS marriage decision or to accuse him of hypocrisy regarding his gay friends and attending their weddings are unfair to the man and the truth.
JEB is definitely not the preferred candidate of the Kochs, and probably not the preferred candidate of Shelly Adelson at this time, so there is nothing much to drop. If JEB wins nomination, then such present non-support would change, of course.
